“Great hotel very close to Peek N' Peak skiing”
Reviewed February 16, 2010

We stayed at the Holiday Inn on Feb 14th and chose the location for its proximity to the Peek 'N Peak ski resort, which is about 10 minutes away. I have never stayed in a Holiday Inn Express before, and I felt that the hotel had just about everything we needed and the service was great. Check-in/Check-out was super fast, the Express Breakfast was good and had pretty much every thing you would want in terms of selection. I tried to resist those cinnamon buns but I'm afraid I caved in a shared one with my daughter. The room was spacious and clean and very quiet. My daughter and husband tried the pool but said it could have been warmer! That was his only complaint.

There is not much to do in the area, limited restaurants in Findley Lake nearby, and no stores really, but we spent most of our time at the ski resort and ate there.

Long after we had checked out, we realized that my daughter had forgotten her beloved teddy bear in our room and was inconsolable. We went back and they had it waiting for us, which was really wonderful.

All in all, it was simple but covered all the bases for us. We really liked it and would definiately recommend it.

We stayed one night at this hotel and we were very impressed with the staff, the hotel itself and the quiet night's rest we had.

I can't say enough about the staff, extremely friendly and helpful. I wish every hotel we stayed at displayed this level of customer service.

The hotel itself is not quite in the middle of nowhere, as others have described. Findley Lake is very close by and there are a number of restaurants to choose from within a few minutes drive. There apparently was a restaurant right next door to the hotel, but it looks closed down, the sign was covered up, but Findley Lake is only 5 minutes away.

The hotel itself was very quiet, and that's important to us. I couldn't tell you how many guests were in the hotel that night, but I can say we never heard any of them.

One minor complaint was that there is no wireless access in the hotel rooms, only down in the common room. There is hardwire connection from the rooms and they do have an ethernet connection in the desk but I only had my Ipod Touch so I had to go down to the common room and use it. The room was very comfortable with overstuffed chairs so it wasn't to much of a problem.

We would stay here again in a heartbeat...

the staff was friendly and greeted us at the door. check in was a bit confusing, amenities and room request were not correct, but changing them was made easy by the staff. the room was clean and comfortable for three adults and two children. we requested a roll away bed and had to move the furniture around to use it. we were the only guests at times and so the food was rotated again and again. eventually we just had cold cereal and coffee and/or juice. we used the pool daily and it was very nice, not exactly heated but once you got used to it, it was ok. we stayed four days and by the second day our biggest complaint was the free breakfast, which was bad the first morning and just got worse. maybe if there had been more guests they would have put out fresh food.
we liked the location, the staff was friendly, the room quiet and comfortable.
we asked the staff to recommend somewhere nearby to eat. we were given three choices and the one we chose delivered the food. for a tab of fifty dollars, most of the food went into the trash. after the first day we went to a grocery store and bought our own. it is a very rural location and no fast food was nearby.
we would stay again but bring our own food, and warn those we recommended to stay to do the same.

We stayed here for a skiing weekend at Peek n Peak with friends. This hotel was perfect for our family of 4. They gave us one of the end rooms which is a little larger than the others so we didn't feel cramped.

The hotel is clean and updated. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast bar was tasty, fresh and filling for a day on the slopes. The pool was small but fun. The heater was a bit loud, but we always travel with and use ear plugs, so it didn't bother us one bit.

All in all, a wonderful little place to stay for a weekend near the Peak. We will be back.

WE Stayed this past weekend for 1 night. I have only one complaint and that was the heater in the room ( 215)
tthe unit clicked on and off ALL night. and it was so loud that it kept us up all night. My husband tried to fiddle with it but we had sleeping kids in the room- (boy they can sleep through anything). He ended up unplugging the whole unit at 2 itat a.m. Any way,we told the manager the next morning and he was pissed that we didn't call him asap- It was 1 in the morning and we didn't want them coming in with the kids. He was NOT so helpful the next morning. Took off 10%- WOW !! don't go crazy-!!!

Other then that EVERYTHING was GREAT. The breakfast , awesome and included- in the eve after a long day of skiing thet had soup, unlimited popcorn, hot choco, tea and ice cream The staff( exsept for ne. cranky ) was great. We had a kids suite and loved it- they had great amanities and really want to make your trip great. we will for sure go back- great rates too.oh yea, the had cookis in the room and microwave popcorn for you to use !! really cute toughes like the 24 hour hot choc. the kids thought that was the greatest....

  • Liked — we stayed in the kids suite- excellent !!
  • Disliked — the heater in rooom would not shut off

Excellent stay for one night. The front desk people were the nicest people imaginable but not to the point of being intrusive.
Fresh apples (in season), popcorn, cookies, coffee, and more were available 24/7.
The hotel was quiet even though we were roomed on the highway side. The beds made for a great night's sleep. Rooms were clean and well stocked with needed items.
Local restaurants are closed on Monday and Tuesday during this time of year so we ended up at a tavern at the south end of Findley Lake that was quaint and full of locals.
After a red-eye flight across country and sight-seeing through Amish country the HIX was a welcome respite in a very quiet, isolated, and rural setting.

I've stayed here several times over the past three months and each time has been an excellent experience. The hotel desk staff is very nice and helpful. The rooms are clean, the furnishings are well-kept and modern, and the housekeeping staff is attendant to one's requests. There is high-speed internet available and it works well (ethernet cord).

This property is a bit isolated (fifteen miles from Erie, PA) and has a small sandwich-type diner next door that I believe is open only during the supper hours. The isolation is very peaceful, which I enjoy very much. There is a ski slope within several miles that I've not had the opportunity to visit. I highly recommend this hotel.
