“Lake is secondary”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2012

The lake itself takes a back seat to activities in the area.Access to the lake is very limited. The village has shops and restaurants in a very compact area. Near by Peek n Peak is a nice resort center with fine dining, upscale hotel, skiing, and a championship caliber golf course that hosted a Nationwide Tour tournament for years. It is very nice for a getaway, and is not too far from Buffalo, Erie, Cleveland,or Pittsburgh. They have a wonderful Sunday champaigne brunch on a semi weekly basis. Pristine rural scenery along the drive to see the rest Chautauqua County has to offer. Fishing, hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, boating, golf, shopping, casinos, dining, amusement parks, wineries, culture, history, all within a short drive. Worth trying a long weekend visit.

“Classic Americana”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2012

Go there on 4th of July weekend and see lines of locals winding through the main drag, skewers & ice creams in hand. Chill out lakeside, pop into a couple shops (toys, wine, candles . . . starting to sound sexy, which it is, but also the quintessential family stroll), and wrap it up on the Blue Heron Inn patio - maybe the best public view of the lake from town.

“A nice small lake town with some decent restaurants, some overpriced.”

A tranquil lake, overbuilt circumference, some shopping area, limited access for boats, however gasoline is available at the North end of the lake.

“Best Part of Summer”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2011

I have been going to Findley Lake for the last years. Not much has changed and that is why I still go. It's a great place to pull up a lounge chair or to hang out in your boat.
It's a small lake about 6 miles circumference and it has 1 larger island and a smaller island.

There are a few restaurants in the area (not all listed in Trip advisor) to get a great meal.
The lake itself is beautiful and has a great deal of wild life, besides all the various types of fish. There are hummingbirds, orioles, and several species of ducks, Canadian geese, and a blue heron. Also, if you are lucky you might get to see the family of bald eagles that call Findley Lake home.

Fishing is allowed and much enjoyed but make sure you know the rules of the lake before hoping in. The lake is patrol by the NY State Sherriff’s department and you don't want a ticket to capsize your trip. Also, in NY you must have a boating certificate to operate a jet ski and be over the age of 14. Safety first is the best way to start a relaxing vacation.

The lake is gorgeous and very peaceful. There is a Holiday Inn Express just outside Findley for a quick stop over. Also there is a camp ground right on the lake for those who like to get back to nature. Call early to get a spot because summer books up quickly.

There is shopping in Findlay and you are close by to Erie PA where there is no tax on most clothing. :o) And for those raining days there is the Chautauqua Wine Trail.
If you are from Canada make sure you check with the border for limits for bringing back alcohol. It's definatly worth the trip around the Chautauqua region.

Enjoy you stay.
