We bought a boat last winter, so this was our first year viewing the canal from the water, usually it was from the bike path. We travelled a good portion from Rochester, NY through the locks as far as Seneca Lake. The scenery and wildlife were beautiful. The towns along the way were enjoyable and the people were friendly and helpful. I can't wait for next summer to discover more.

The Erie Canal accessed from Fairport NY is both picturesque and a great place to walk on flat (mostly) paved trail. You can go very far or not far at all and have no traffic (except other foot traffic & bicyclists) to contend with.

Good spot for some quiet time. Biking enthusiasts will like to ride along the Erie canal. It's pretty in summer and fall.

We walked along the canal starting out in Perinton Park. We got off the trail in Fairport and ate lunch at Donnelly's then walked into the donwtown area. Very pleasant day!

A real NYS treasure, we walk or ride along the canal and enjoy every minute. We often ride our bikes up to the village for ice cream and its fun to feed the ducks or watch the crew teams rowing.
