I just wanted to spoil myself in having a good supper on a saturday night. I wanted to experience it before I bring my wife at the earliest opportunity...

Wow... What a treat! Service is excellent and the food fabulous.

I had a great time and will not come back alone as I will return with friends.

This Inn offered friendly people, excellent food, wonderful service and a great night's sleep. Easy to find in Essex NY, near health club, near Lake Champlain, charming town, quaint shops... Very pleasant experience. Would return!

This is a gem located in the Adirondacks on Lake Champlain. The atmosphere is wonderful and the food is even better. I tell everyone about this lovely restaurant. I'll be dining there again with friends in a few weeks. The prices are very reasonable.

The staff were so nice, as our reservation had to be sort of flexible due to us coming by boat and also due to illnesses. We made a reservation that day. They actually upgraded us at no charge to a nicer room because it was for our anniversary. The room was beautiful and very comfy. We had drinks at the bar, which were delicious and then dinner, which was excellent. Breakfast was ok... wished there were some vegetarian options, besides the muffins and fruit. Overall, a wonderful stay. I would totally go back to stay overnight or at least to have a great dinner.

Having stayed at the Essex Inn in the past, we were pleasantly surprised at the beautiful renovations that had been made to this charming old Inn "on the Adirondack coast". With only seven rooms, the place was very quiet. Our room was very spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The rocking chairs & tables along the front porch of the Inn provide a relaxing spot to sit and unwind. Dinner was excellent!
My only complaint would be the lack of attention & food options at breakfast. We felt it was a little too "DIY" for the price...adding a hot & cold breakfast option as well as an "attentive" staffer would have made it a perfect get away.

We stayed at the Essex Inn last minute, having found all other accommodation around the Burlington area full. The room was lovely and large with a very comfortable bed. But the service at breakfast the next morning left a lot to be desired... there was no place laid, no coffee cups available, and no-one around to ask for a good 10 minutes. Some cereal, sliced melon and cold bacon was out on the table. Also available were some partially cooked cinnamon rolls (the centre was uncooked dough) . It was a while before we could find anyone to set us a place at a table (in the dark bar rather than a sunlit room) and provide coffee cups and fresh coffee. We were then able to get some eggs (nicely cooked) and a slice of cold toast (only white bread available). This is a pricey place - perhaps it's better when it's not the end of the season, but with the prices charged, more attention needs to be paid to guests in the morning!

Actually, The Essex Inn in Essex NY is across the street from the lake, on a very quiet street. Circa 1812---restored and renovated.Just perfect. They call the area "The Adirondack Coast"! Maybe they have 6 or 7 rooms, ours was #1 ---a large corner room with queen size bed, fresh white linens and down comforter . Large, new bath room with a spacious shower (no tub). Fireplace and sofa with flat screen TV. Easy access to the second floor porch with several tables and chair; which extends the entire length of the inn---overlooking the street and shops and glimpses of Lake Champlain. A two minute walk to the lakeshore and neighborhood park. The chef, Josh Archer is a clever wonderful creator of great meals---we had the "Delavan" Platter for two for $55 (who or why "Delavan"--we dont know, nor did the servers Lynn and Alex--and we forgot to ask the chef the next morning) It had a huge lobster tail, cooked perfectly, a large sirloin steak--cooked to my request: medium rare--which is pretty red but hot in temperature; a crab cake; two Black and Blue Clams Casino ( a clever invention with blue cheese and some cajun spices) garlic mashed potatos and tender steamed and seasoned pea pods. a small salad for each of us preceded the main course---veggies and housemade dressings were excellent. There are three dining room, one with a loveseat and two chairs for seating-to accomodate 4, just the two of us- we sat there as the wooden benches and chairs in the tavern might not be as comfy. Also, in that dining room is a table for 4 or 6 with large upholstered chairs. There also is seating in the popular Tavern room--all redone with Adirondack theme--booths, small tables and several large high top tables. and then another small dining area in another room off the Tavern . Lovely, any season of the year. Continental breakfast is included, but if the Inn is not busy they chef may be able to make eggs, pancakes etc. We had the luck to be the only ones there, and requested a late full breakfast at 10:30 am. The Inn also has bicycles and kayaks for rent.

Room Tip: They only have one room with a king size bed. Our queen was certainly fine for us.
