“Good place to visit for anyone of any age!”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

Tanglewood has been a childhood favorite! They keep up the grounds and trails very nicely, They have a lot of trails for any level of walking and hiking. Along the way there are a few ponds, view of the river, and a overlook that is peaceful and beautiful. This is a real good place to go and relax, there is no charge to go (just make sure to not leave your garbage behind)....

“Nature right at hand”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

Tanglewood has everything a nature lover might want. You can sit at the pavilion and have a picnic. Enjoy the two nearby ponds. Hike a variety of trails with a variety of difficulty levels. There are easy flat hikes and mountain cliffs to explore. There is also a lot of wildlife for easy viewing. There are chipmunks, rabbits, deer, hawks, ducks, and songbirds. There are also great displays of flowers growing in the fields in the spring and summer. They also have a very nice visitor center.

“200 acres”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

Living only a couple of miles away makes this my #1 hiking destination. I have traversed these trails hundreds of times and see something different each trip. The area is known for it's rattlesnake dens and there are warnings but I have never seen one here.

“Great resource minutes from town”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

Tanglewood has 2 main components - a great nature center with interpretive displays and some live animals (turtle alert), and an extensive network of trails. The center & main parking lot are in a hilltop clearing. Trails open all the time (dawn-dusk 365 days a year), no fee for the trails or center, and quite a range of terrain (forest, ridge, steep slope down toward the river). Check out the trail map online to get a better idea of what's on offer.

“Woodlands close to Elmira NY”
Reviewed September 8, 2012

Host site for a trail run on Father's Day. Challenging elevation changes, but very scenic woodlands and an awe inspiring overlook of the Chemung River. Small but nice exhibit on the reptiles found in the nearby woods.
