“Great romantic weekend”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

My husband and I stayed at the Inn for the first time last weekend. We stayed Friday afternoon through Sunday and skied all three days. The room was clean and well set up for skiers; it has a tiled area with a bench and lots of hooks near the door and a locker outside for equipment. The decor is a bit dated but it has charm. It's right next to the Sunrise lift and one thing to note here is that there isn't really an easy way for beginning skiers to get back to the room. Though Sunrise is a blue hill, there were quite a few people who were struggling to get down. You can always pop your skis off near the lodge and it's not a bad walk back. We thought the little bar was cute, but don't let Steve go wild with all his herbs. I had the worst Bloody Mary of my life. We weren't wild about the breakfast setup, so we opted to eat elsewhere, but all in all we enjoyed our stay and will be back I'm sure.

I am so pleased to hear you had a wonderful Romantic Weekend. Steve IS having a great time with the "Bloody Mary Bar" at the Inn but it sounds like he might have gotten a little too creative when mixing yours. I am sorry it was not wonderful. Another option for skiers returning to the Inn is to call a Shuttle - just ask any Holiday Valley Employee at the ticket booths or parking lots and they can arrange for a ride back to the Inn.

We look forward to your next visit!

I have been staying here for years. I bring my family every year and have never had a bad experience. Being from Pittsburgh and we now refuse to go to SS we look forward to our anuual trip to Holiday Valley. I have traveled through on our motorcycle in the summer and it's great to visit anytime. Keep up the good work at HVI!

Thank you for your compliments! We have some great Ride Guides that Cattaraugus County has created at the Front Desk. Make sure you ask for one on your next visit. July 11th weekend the New York State Rally will be at Holiday Valley, we are looking forward to a fun weekend.

We traveled to the Inn during Early February. We booked our annual family ski weekend in June, requesting adjoining rooms. I called 2 months prior, making sure we had the rooms we requested. I called the Wednesday before we arrived and confirmed the adjoining room request. When we got there Friday, no adjoining rooms. An inconvenience, since we were traveling with a children. Went to the front desk and was told that our room was given away accidentally on Thursday. We were compensated $40 for the room. Oh well. Anyway, skiing was great, the rooms were nice, pool was great, breakfast was so-so. The lobby bar was nice, and while we were there, they had an acoustic duo playing music, which was really nice. We used the complimentary shuttle to take us to town, which is just a few minutes away. Vivited the pub, which was nice. The only other inconvenience was walking to the lobby or pool from the standard rooms. You had to get dressed in winter coats, boots, gloves and scarves just to go to the pool or to breakfast. The doors to the rooms all open to the outside, no inner hallways to walk down. But, on the plus side, we were able to open the sliding glass doors and ski right from the room! Again, we still had a good time. Hopefully, next time? we will get the adjoining rooms!

The room (125) offered a first-floor ski-in and ski-out which was easily accessible to the Sunrise lift. We loved the convenience to catch the lift and start skiing right away. Another convenience was a nice size ski locker outside the doorway which easily held 4 pairs of ski=is and ski boots.

We were originally put in another room but the room had a bit of smell. The staff was very accommodating (and friendly) and put us into room 125. The room were clean and had two queen size beds, and it was an average size. Given that we were out skiing all day long, the size was really not an important factor. The bathroom had two sinks which was helpful, although two of the three lights were out. There were plenty of hooks for jackets and snow pants which helped in keeping the room organized.

The hotel also offered a shuttle over to the slopes and we were able to get our lift tickets at the desk. Convenient. After a full day of skiing, we went to the hotel lounge to find out that the bar wasn't open due to occupancy (we were there on a Wednesday and Thursday). This to me was very disappointing. This is a ski resort during the middle of Winter, and in my opinion, the bar should be open. The staff kindly suggested we go across the street to Cadillac Jacks or to the ski lodge, but we had wanted to hang out and play cards and have a drink.

Overall a nice stay and would come back again for the skiing.

With hesitation we booked our room. We'd stayed here 22 years ago and were concerned it would be run down. But we were SO happy we booked our room. It exceeded our expectations for the price, especially if you purchased your discounted lift tickets at the desk ($7 off per ticket). Room clean and fresh with balcony to the slopes. Nothing extravagant but all that you require. Nice breakfast included downstairs. Staff were very professional. Enjoyed the warm indoor-outdoor pool and outdoor hot tub after a hard-hitting day on the slopes. Thanks for a nice stay!

Room Tip: We recommend rooms 213- 218.for good view of slopes.

How can you market an indoor/outdoor pool at a ski resort and then say the outdoor pool is closed to save energy!?!??!! We were not informed of this policy change at the time of booking or check in. I haven't seen any energy savings credit on our bill. We booked 5 rooms for families and kids. We specifically selected the hotel so they could go in the pool at night after skiing. What a disappointment!

I am glad that I had the opportunity to speak with you this morning to clarify the hours of operation for the outdoor portion of our indoor-outdoor pool. I only wish that there had been an opportunity for us to speak earlier. I am sorry that your family was disappointed that the outdoor portion of the pool is not open as late as the indoor pool & outdoor hot tub. We appreciate your repeat business and I hope that we will have you as our guests again soon.
