Just checked into this gorgeous property, and I am so happy. The one bedroom room is beautiful and well appointed. Will definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

Tamarack Club at Holiday Valley in Ellicottville has much to recommend it: pleasing exterior, gorgeous scenery and well maintained grounds. The wonderfully friendly and accommodating staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Those who golf, swim or ski will be especially happy with the amenities here. The area affords some interesting side trips to Amish country, antique malls and Salamanca casino. The John Harvard Brew House restaurant in the hotel is outstanding and reasonable. The heating/air conditioning system kept us very comfortable and the TV’s were adequate though poorly situated. Viewing from the dining area was not possible and the layout of the furniture seemed strange.
The resort has one major drawback...the beds! Especially for seniors, beds should be the priority in any hotel or resort accommodation if one is to enjoy the holiday. Our stay was marred by the absolutely terrible beds. Our one bedroom deluxe unit could sleep eight, but not one bed was comfortable. The queen bed is so soft that our problem backs ached unbearably. Six pillows under the mattress raised it enough to alleviate the problem somewhat for me, but not enough for my husband. The Murphy bed was extremely hard and since it was up against the kitchen counter, only one person could get into and out of bed without crawling in from the end. The staff found some foam toppers which helped counteract the hard mattress there for my husband. There is no adequate reading light for this bed. The sofa beds are impossibly hard and uncomfortable. In short, unless you can ”sleep on a clothes line” these beds will leave you sleepless. tired and frustrated. Apparently all the queen beds in the units are the same poor quality. Do those who set up the accommodations ever stay here? It is shameful to have such a beautiful resort downgraded in this way.

Tamarack Club is the timeshare/fractional ownership portion of the Holiday Valley Resort. It has very good customer service including THEM PHONING US several days ahead of our arrival to confirm our reservation and ask if we had any questions. When we checked in we inquired whether the pools/hot tubs were chorine, bromine or salt water. The person a check in did not know but when we reached our room 5 minutes later they phoned to verify it was salt based. Never had such fast service.

Daily maid service for timeshare resort is generally a bonus and here the maid comes in daily and does a full service. Underground parking, onsite restaurant and onsite spa were also plusses.

Units are well appointed and very clean, Views from suites can either be of the ski hill and golf course or the hills on the other side of the building.

There are however a few minuses. Our one bedroom could sleep 6 with a murphy bed and sleep sofa in addition to the bedroom but there was only one bathroom which although quite large had virtually no vanity space for storage(see picture) and was essentially a large pedestal sink. Also one had to move the dining table in order to use the murphy bed and there was only casual seating for 3 to watch TV. The balcony also was small and only could accommodate 2 people at a time. In addition the unit heating/air conditioning units vent onto the balcony which makes it very noisy when the units are running(see picture)

While our suite did have a view of the ski hill and golf course it also was right above the large central air conditioning units for the common areas of the resorts which were also very noisy when running. We were told by staff that the resort was less than 15% full we were there in off season so we were not sure why we were put in this location rather than another suite away from the noise.

Room Tip: Overall it is a very nice resort with good customer service I just suggest you stay way from suites...

We have stayed at the Tamarck Club several times during ski season. With 2 children (5 & 9), it can't be beat for convenience. Your skis can be kept on the lowest level in a secure area with an attendant. When you retrieve your skis you are only a few steps from the door to the slopes. Cleanliness is our #1 priority and Tamarack has always been outstanding. The rooms are always very clean and large enough for the kids to spread out their toys and run around. With the well maintained kitchen facilites within the rooms the kids can eat their snacks during ski breaks. On the main level, John Harvards restaurant is family friendly and they will also provide carry out if the kids prefer to eat in the room. Additionally, near the front desk, there is a small store where milk and other items may be purchased. Parking is convenient in the underground deck.

We stayed at the Tamarack Club at Holiday Valley for 2 nights, 3 days during Presidents week for a mini ski vacation. We have 2 kids ages 7 and 13. The location is great, right on the base of the hills. It's not exactly a ski in ski out but it's close enough. You still have to carry your skis from the hotel to the chair lift which could be a 5 minute walk with kids in tow.
I made the reservations over the phone because the quality of the website is not very good. The first person I spoke with didn't know much about the hotel and had to keep asking someone else all my questions so I didn't make the reservation then.....I thought that was annoying. I called back a few days later and talked to a knowledgable person who was not very friendly, but gave me more information so I made the reservations then. We went with two other families so you would think they would have been glad to rent out three rooms at once especially at a rate of $675 per night!
Check in was easy but again the people at the front desk weren't very friendly. Be aware that check in is 4:00pm and check out is 10:00am. We asked for a later check out since 10am is very early but they said no. One of the other families we were with asked to speak to a manager but apparently there were none around so no one could make that decision. It would have been nice to have a few extra hours considering the amount of money we paid. I don't mind paying the high end prices to get some extras but this felt like a rip off!
We stayed in a one bedroom deluxe which sleeps 8. It is two adjoining rooms - one with a full kitchen, a pullman bed, a pullout sofa bed and bathroom. The adjoining room is more like a hotel room but has a mini kitchenette area, bed and sofa bed. It was nice to have the two rooms with the kids and the extra bathroom came in handy. It was also very clean and new - the building has only been there a few years. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes etc so all you need is your own food.
We went down to the pool area a few times. The kids loved the heated indoor/outdoor pool and after a day of skiing it was nice to relax in the outdoor hot tub!
There is a parking garage underground for guests of the hotel and there is a ski check so you don't have to lug your skis up to your room. I read reviews of long lines for the ski check but we never had to wait....it was very convenient. The only negative is that is a long walk from the ski check to the main ski lift and you have to carry your skis which is hard on the kids.
Sleeping was a problem here. The beds were uncomfortable as were the pillows. It was very noisy outside....we could hear the groomers on the hills all night long and the traffic going by. The refrigerators in the rooms made a lot of noise every time they went on so needless to say we didn't get a good nights sleep.
We ate at the restaurant twice, once for lunch and then for dinner. The food is very good and so was the service. They accommodated our large group easily....we had 12 in all - 6 adults and 6 kids.
If you want to spend time in the spa make sure you book an appt. early. They were booked solid the entire week so we couldn't get in.
This is a very nice place to stay if you're an avid skiier. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the robotic staff, the sleepless nights and the cost of the rooms.
We had a pleasant experience here and would consider going back.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a slopeside room....it was worth the view of the hills instead of the street!

This was our second stay at the Tamarack Club. We stayed mid-week, so was quiet. We stayed in a studio with pull out sofa bed and murphy bed for 2 adults and 2 children. It was not a big room, but still plenty of space for the 4 of us and a dining table. Kitchen was very well equipped and maintained. Room was very clean throughout. Staff on premises very friendly and offering all sorts of assistance. Very easy access to ski hill and lifts saving the hassle of loading and unloading the car at the start and end of skiing. Typical ski lodge food, but kids and I loved the huge chicken fingers and curly fries.

Only complaint was reservation process. Did not seem knowledgeable about various advertised promotions. Sent back and forth between reservations and front desk. Not good business to make it hard to book a stay.

I stayed here for two nights with my daughter the last weekend in January. This place is a gem. The rooms are not huge but they're adequate, they're tastefully decorated and very clean. We skied three days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Being right on the slopes is awesome, you don't have to deal with parking at Holiday Valley, which is just deplorable. You check your skis on the lower level, pick them up when you need them...great, well thought out service and the ski room attendants are nice guys. John Harvard's, the hotel restaurant, is simply fantastic. The food is excellent, service is outstanding. We ate here both nights, there was no reason to leave the hotel and ski resort. They even serve the local brews on tap from the Elllicottville Brewing Company.
