“The Years Go By and Holiday Valley Keeps Up”
Reviewed January 31, 2014

It has been at least 20 years since I have skied at Holiday Valley. On the day we went skiing the grooming was immaculate and the updated lodges have great, clean, and roomy facilities for skiers.

Overall it was great to see how Holiday Valley has matured and updated its facilities. The skiiing was great too!

One negative comment: The food in the main eating area. My guest and I prefer sandwiches and salads for lunch instead of the high fat and salt staples so many ski hill seem to want to offer. The choice, of what limited choice (ham, chicken) for the sandwiches and the salads were rather limp being that there were only a few date tagged for Wednesday (we were there on Thursday) and most of them were tagged for Tuesday including all of the salads. It would have been nice to have FRESH prepared salads instead of the rather expensive salad fixings you have to weigh.

“Michigan Convert”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

Drive time to Michigan Ski resorts from SE Michigan = 4 hours. Drive time to Holiday Valley = 5.5 hours. Take the extra 1.5 hours and make the trip. With 750' of vertical compared to 500' at the Boyne's, and more than 3 times the terrain, it is well worth it. Nice staff, lots of activities, great on mountain facilities, a fun mountain roller coaster open year round, with a very nice town to spend the off-mountain time, it is a great experience. New York is closer than you think.

“Calming, comfortable place to stay.”
Reviewed January 23, 2014

I did not know much about Holiday Valley and the pictures of the place and my lodging did it no justice. It was a beautiful experience so beautiful that ny friends from out of town wants to play a getaway here every year. The accomodations werr great. The staff was friendly at both the lodge (Wildflower) and restaurant (John Havard's) and the access to varioua places to eat was great. If you want to use the hot tub, pool and/or sauna you must stay at the Tamarack Club or use the spa to get that access. Not fair for patrons of other lodges who may not be able to stay there due to pricing or unavailability but it's understandable. Everything is walking distance but I wouldn't walk in the cold. I would definitely visit Holiday Valley again.

“Most professional & helpful staff at any ski resort!”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

Aesthetically, the lodges are beautifully decorated, the bathrooms large and roomy enough to get your ski garb off in order to use the facilities, they are exceptionally clean and very well maintained all throughout the day. Ski slopes, lift lines, and the staff keeping the lines moving, were amazing! I'd be willing to say that this was one of the most enjoyable, all around ski trips we've done. We had never skied here before and we could not get off the deck before running into staff asking if we needed help. He told us where the slopes were and which lifts to hit to get to our level of runs...told us of the most beautiful ones, the ones to do first, the ones that tend to get worn down in the later hours.......he left no stone unturned! He was more than helpful! At the bottom of the stairs to the deck was more staff asking if you needed anything......how could they help ! Very professional seems understated for this place! Food was reasonably priced for what you get.....expensive but by far more reasonable than comparable ski facilities and it was good!

“Excellent ski resort with helpful/friendly staff”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

The skiing was plentiful and well varied. The thing that really stands out about the resort however is how increthedibly professionally run it is. From the lift operators, to the lesson desk, and the food vendors, everyone was very helpful, friendly, and sincere they were. I was there with my family on what was probably the busiest day all winter and the customer service was incredible. Well done! We cannot wait to return.
