“Another great birthday dinner here ”
Reviewed October 20, 2013 via mobile

Well for the 100th time my wife and I chose this place for our birthday dinner. The gnocchi aka nox and the egg plant are always fantastic. I did see a little trouble with the server not remembering who had what, the bar tender got three drinks and could not remember them after he walked away. It seems less family here and maybe the Nubies just aren't taking the pride to be a northsider. Great food and we will be back as always! Thanks for being a great consistent place year after year in a business where staying relevant is very tough.

“Excellent for a rehearsal dinner/banquet.”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

On the recommendation of our daughter-in-law-to-be we chose the Northside for the rehearsal dinner. After checking out the options, my wife and I chose the Grand Italian Fiesta. We were surprised at the quality and quantity of the courses after courses that were presented to us. The food isn't high-end re-interpretations of traditional Italian dishes, the food is good traditional Italian dishes.By the way, we ain't hicks. I was born, raised, and fed in Brooklyn.

“Nice anniversary meal with accommodating service”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

We ate here on Friday, which marked our 27th wedding anniversary. It was an interesting meal because we only had about 90 minutes to stay, as our daughter was at a middle school dance and we had to pick her up promptly at its end.

The staff at the Northside was very accommodating of our schedule and seated us as quickly as possible and took our orders immediately. Salad and main courses came more quickly than usual as they hustled to meet our schedule demands. And yet, it didn't seem rushed, per se. We did have time to enjoy each course, with our friendly waitress staying on top of our drinks as we needed refills.

Both of us ordered the seafood cioppino, which was served in a white wine butter sauce...heavenly! Lots of seafood nestled over a bed of linguini with that aromatic sauce. It was sooooo good! This family has been doing Italian food right for four generation, so it comes as no surprise that they've got it down pat!

The only suggestion I'd make for improving this place is a small one; we both agree that it would be nice if they warmed their bread before bringing it to the table. They've never one this, and we can't figure out why. One other tip for visiting this restaurant; their parking lot is EXTREMELY tight, so try to park in either the front of the back. Getting out of the middle can test your driving skills to their max!

In summary, this is a WONDERFUL family-owned restaurant, and we will always come back for special meals and occasions.

“Not the best Italian in the city”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

Personally I feel that the sauce tastes like jar sauce, not homemade. Staff seems to cater to the regulars. Have never had a good experience here, so do not intend to return.

“Just ok-nothing great, nothing bad”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

Have always driven past this place, but never heard anyone talk about it. Two kids, two adults for dinner. Servers were nice and efficient. Food wasn't fabulous though. Very heavy. Calamari was kind of bland, which was disappointing since the menu read that it would be squid, olives, ring peppers. Just got the squid. Anyway, I'll try a different place next time.
