Sunset Solace is a lovely cottage. It is light and airy, very well furnished and comfortable, and amazingly equipped. Every detail has been thought of, the kitchen was provisioned with any and everything. Exceptional amenities: quantity and quality. We were thankful for and impressed with the more than basic provisions. The location, on a forested lot with a sloping grassy meadow is very typical of the Gulf Islands and is beautiful. The view to the west over to the Vancouver Island mountains is exquisite, as are the sunsets. It has great sun exposure and would be very pleasant any time of the year. Bruce and Wendy provide good directions on where to provision and suggestions of things to do. Very nice touch on arrival was gorgeous fresh flowers and relaxing music when you opened the door, just the precursor to an incredible stay. Great hot tub to view the sunsets! This was a lovely stay. We were sorry to leave, and will certainly return. Bruce and Wendy, our host and hostess, were very helpful, and a pleasure to talk with.
Great cottage, great view, great people. Perched on a mountain, a great view of the water the mountains and Vancouver Island
My wife and I took our 80 year-old parents to visit Salt Springs Island and stayed at the Sunset Solace Cottage. Located in the Vesuvius part of the Island, the location commanded an excellent view of the ocean. Everything you need to create the comforts of home was available, including a fabulous hot tub. Location was ideal for hiking and cycling (if you do not mind hills on your return). Bruce, our host, was attentive and made every effort to welcome us to his place.
This was our second stay at Sunset Solice & it was amazing once again! We love the beautiful ocean views, the great deck & that it is pet friendly. Our dogs loved watching the deer that cross the property. Walking trails are nearby & a hot tub under the stars at the end of the day was soooo good. We love it here & hope to be back for our third visit next year! Highly recommend this awesome place! Thanks so much Bruce & Wendy!
We loved the cabin, so clean and it had everything in it. The view was breath taking and relaxing. The hot tub was such a big bonus, we enjoyed it in the evening while our food cooked on the bbq. In the morning, we had breakfast outside and watched a family of deers pass by us. Wendy and Bruce are amazing people. We made a connection with them right away. Bruce took my daughter in his golf cart to see the red barn downstairs. They have lots of pamphlets and information on salt springs at the cabin. By staying at the cabin we sure made some good family memories which we will treasure for a long time to come.
We will be booking again next year.
Sunset Solace is aptly named and an absolute gem. Whatever we needed for our two-week stay, this cute home away from home had it, and anything we asked about was promptly supplied by our generous hosts. Booking was a breeze, as was communication with our hosts, Bruce, Wendy and Meghan.
The view from the wrap-around deck and windows is second to none and the quiet pure bliss, a haven for for anyone in need of serious R&R.
We found the best rye sourdough bread ever at North End Farm. A must-do is the Channel Ridge trail system, which starts right up the road and offers spectacular views from its west-facing trails especially. The island has something for every taste, and during our two-week stay we never ran out of things to do. Highly recommend the cheese and charcuterie plate with a bottle of dry cider at the local cidery, the perfect nosh on a warm afternoon. Sunset Solace will be our new go-to place.
Lovely cottage and view. Hosts were friendly. Kitchen is fully stocked. Just 2 minutes from really scenic trails and ocean. Salt springs island is really wonderful. Good restaurants, bakery and coffee shops. My 6 days stay went by too quickly. I'll definitely have to come back again.
