“Resembles a "Four Seasons Hotel", only smaller and more intimate.”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

My wife and I spent our wedding anniversary vacationing in East Hampton. We decided to go at the last minute. As you can guess, hotel rates for the Hamptons in summer can be a "little" high!
No sooner did I make the reservation online, I received a call from the Mill House Inn regarding any needs we might have, dinner reservations or activities that we needed help on. Mind you, this was a Sunday afternoon. The next day, I received another call from the Inn, telling us that we were being upgraded to a Suite at no additional cost. Wow! What a start. We hadn't left home yet and we were already impressed. When we arrived, we were welcomed by Carolyn and chocolate dipped strawberries in our room. The Inn included everything one could think of in the rate. Round the clock cookies, water, soda, coffee, tea, etc. Cheeses and crackers, whenever we desired.
We brought a bottle of wine and they simply laid it out for us, wuth cheese, crackers and olives on a tray to enjoy the view from the porch. The gourmet breakfast, especially the lobster frittata was just ridiculously good. I don't mind saying that we have stayed in some of the world's finest hotels and resorts. The Mill House Inn, run by Courtney and J, is on the top of the list regarding service, food, accomodations and amenities. I know it sounds like this is a paid review, but The Mill House Inn is that good. Actually, we are considering a winter visit to a summer place just to stay here again.

The Mill House Inn will forever have a special place in my heart as this is where my fiancé (then boyfriend) and I stayed when he proposed on the beach in East Hampton. Upon arrival at Mill House, the staff warmly greeted us and made sure we immediately took advantage of the snack bar they have in the check-in area, comprised of delicious cookies, savory treats, iced tea, and so much more.

Our room was fantastic. It had a very cozy and relaxed ambiance. The bathroom is huge with a nice bathtub and stand up shower. I was obsessed with the lavender-scented skin, hair products and their plush bathroom robes.

The couple who runs the day-to-day operations for Mill House, J and Courtney, are such warm and friendly people who made a genuine effort to get to know us and ensure that we had the most wonderful stay. We really got to know them during our breakfasts, which were absolutely delicious!! We loved everything - the fresh fruit, lobster frittata, scrambled eggs, etc. We also enjoyed some of the best coffee we’ve ever had, thanks to J and his passion for carefully selecting coffee beans (don’t leave without trying “Baby’s coffee” from Key West) and using a unique brewing process.

Carolyn, the Resident Manager, was great; she made sure we had champagne and cheese waiting for us in our room when we returned from the post-engagement beach day. They were all in on my fiancé’s proposal plans and I am beyond grateful that I’ll always associate them and that beautiful inn with our engagement.

Overall, amazing experience and I would highly recommend staying there!

We had a wonderful time at your Inn and hope to return again before too long.

The breakfasts were great, probably had a little difficulty doing them justice just because we had been travelling for quite some time.

We loved all the little extras, the fact that nothing seemed to be too much trouble and the beach gear was an unexpected bonus!

Jul 24 2014

Hi Pam
Please do schedule The Mill House as the first leg of your next excursion and I promise we will have something special on the menu just for you. Preferences? Maybe jumbo lump crabmeat with a lemon chive-aioli, organic eggs scrambled with fingerling potatoes and crisp shallots! Or… Grass-fed Montana beef, grilled cremini mushrooms and sweet osso onions, fried eggs with fresh thyme and goat cheese.

Everything we do is about the smallest details, a little bit of invisible wonder and a precious smile. Making your travels a pleasure is truly our pleasure, it's why hospitality matters so much to us.

We stayed at the Mill House Inn the week after Memorial day 2014 to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. We cannot say enough good things about the Inn!! First off - the service! The staff is incredibly helpful, kind and goes out of their way to make your stay memorable. They assist with anything you need -dinner reservations, winery recommendations, activities to do, anything! Courtney, J, Carolyn, etc all were all amazing!! The room was spotless and adorable with a fireplace and comfy bed! The location was perfect, walking distance to the heart of east hampton. Now, on to the food - TO DIE FOR!! Their breakfast was out of this world - order off a menu with a million options, the best iced coffee we've ever had!! Can't say enough good things!! They also have homemade cookies (also TO DIE FOR) around the clock as well as popcorn, savory snacks, cheese plates , etc. All delicious! Overall, our 3 night stay was unforgettable. The price was well worth it and we will be returning the next time we are in the hamptons! Thank you Mill house Inn!

We stayed at The Mill House Inn three weeks ago and had a wonderful time!! The rooms are beautiful, the staff is amazing and they are extremely dog friendly!! Our dog, Opal, had a GREAT time. I can't say enough nice things about The Mill House Inn. There was even a mix-up with our type of room when we arrived and they fixed it without any problems at all. The Inn is immaculate and beautiful and the gorgeous dog-friendly beach is about a mile and a half down the street past shopping and restaurants. If I did not hurt my leg prior to coming, I would have taken advantage of the gym passes they provide as well. We can't wait to go back next year.

The Millhouse Inn is one of those places that you have to go for a romantic weekend. It is right in the heart of the Village of East Hampton and the rooms are amazing. I equate the bedding with The Four Seasons Hotels. The lobby has snacks and drinks, both hot and cold, for guests and is included in the price of your stay. In the morning you will have an amazing hot breakfast prepared by their chef. I reccomend the Cabot omlett or the Sloppy joe scramble. This is just a wonderful place to spend a relaxing weekend. Enjoy!

Room Tip: The second floor is fine if you are in the back bedrooms. The 2nd floor bedrooms over the lobby and...

A Thank You Note
From The Mill House Inn

Being in the heart of East Hampton Village is special, as in “feels like it has always been there” a small seaside village that designs dreams. Walking home to the Mill House after a romantic dinner with stars sparkling as warm ocean breezes come ashore creates a sense of magic. Like you said James it’s "one of those places you have to go for a romantic weekend" in any season. Thank you for your kind comments about our rooms and suites, they are your home in the Hamptons!

The “Best Breakfast in the Hamptons” WOW! Thank You Again, after 17 years, numerous accolades and a Zagat 28, our kitchen maintains its dedication to great food! Chef and his team really love food and the memories it creates. The Cabot Creamery has been on the menu since 1999, my favorite omelet and the Sloppy Joe… well the memories are apparent with the first taste or since we were seven! Thank You James, we like being your “Wonderful Place”

My wife and I stayed here for our 10th anniversary. It was absolutely the best experience. The staff is unparalleled. The breakfast was on par with a 5 star restaurant. The cookies, coffees, lemonades and other treats were a plus. Don't stay anywhere else in the Hamptons!

It was our pleasure to help you celebrate your 10th anniversary, we are looking forward to your next visit. The entire team says thank you for the compliments, nice words always make us work harder to redesign your version of paradise in the Hamptons. And its always nice to have cookies and lemonade to look forward to on the front porch.
