My husband and I stayed at The 1770 House this summer. It was a very expensive place. The room, billed as a room with a "sitting area" was so small we could barely stand. It was so disappointing. In fact it was dingy and faced the street. The so called sitting area was a dingy alcove with pipes. The people were so inhospitable They could not have cared less and it showed. The place was not well kept up. The so called garden was a mess, the lawn furniture was dirty..I was really offended by this. At almost $500 a night, they had the audacity to charge us extra for "housekeeping?". WHy isnt that included..I thought thats what the nightly rate included. Moreover, at breakfast which was included, we were presented with a fake bill so that we could tip the waiter...he said so himself.
There has got to be a better place in The Hamptons. ..in my mind it could not have been much worse for the money we spent.
