“Good Hotel when in the area”
Reviewed May 31, 2008

I don't understand the previous reviewer who wrote that the hotel is 'old and warn'. (Perhaps they stayed at another property). It is fairly new and in excellent repair. We come to Albany area a couple of times a year and usually stay here as it is convenient to where we have to go. We are fussy and wouldn't stay in any hotel that was dirty. It offers good value for what it is, I would like to see them add some items to the breakfast buffet but that's more of a Fairfield Inn thing, i suppose. There is a Denny's and a Cracker Barrel right next door for those who want a serious breakfast. Other dining options are scarce. There's an Applebys down the road and a decent Italian Restaurant about four miles further. I come for a good nights sleep in a clean, safe secure environment. The staff is always friendly and efficient. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

  • Liked — Consistantly good service in a clean and safe environment.
  • Disliked — Breakfast buffet and proximaty to dining

This hotel is old and worn. The carpet is worn. The towels are practically see-through. It is simply a dated hotel that desperately needs to be updated across the board. I wouldn't stay there if it was free.

The Fairfield Inn will be undergoing rennovation, which I think will make it a much better hotel. I booked a queen w. sofa room and it was nice for the price. The layout of the room was kind of weird and the TV was not the best (some stations were fuzzy and others didn't work). There were also some weird stains in the room - pasta sauce on the bedspread and mystery goo on the carpet. However, the room came with a microfridge for no extra cost, and the complimentary breakfast was excellent. There is a breakfast-area attendant whose name escapes me, but she is the sweetest little old lady and started my morning off nicely!

  • Liked — Complimentary breakfast and microfridge in the room
  • Disliked — Building access, some cleanliness issues

We booked a king bed room at a senior rate of $80.00 We spent 2 nights while visiting family in the area. Overall, the hotel was fine. The room was big, bathroom was fine, heat worked great, nice desk, free WIFI, speedy checkin/checkout, etc. Only negative was that the noise from hall is easy to hear in room, (not well insulated for sound), and noise from front parking lot is too easy to hear as well for rooms facing that side of the hotel. Next time, I'd request a room facing the back of the hotel.
Breakfast was fine. Crowded at times and had to wait for a table, but plenty of food and I noticed that the food was replenished as necessary. As far as hotel rates go in the area, I feel it was a good deal. We would stay here again for sure.

We stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding. We were VERY apprehensive after reading the reviews. However, it was basically clean and acceptable. We stayed in a standard room, and traveled with two children.

Check in went smoothly, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was crowded, but the food was plentiful. We took ours out to the pool deck. The pool was clean, but the children said it was cold.

We would stay here again.

I needed a hotel that was close but inexpensive for a day trip to Albany. The hotel met those expectations but from the moment I spoke to the person at the front desk I wished I had selected another hotel. The two women at the counter did not bother to look up to greet me as I stood patiently before them at 9:30pm anxiously waiting to check in after a 3 hour drive. When I announced that I wanted to check in, one asked for my information without ever raising her eyes from the desk – so much for service. The first room I received smelled like a mixture of smoke and cleaning liquid and was directly across from the noisy, old elevator. The second room I was given was clean but old. Old furniture, doors, locks and the tub had a large circular crack in it. The toilet runs after being flushed. And for extra fun, I was awaken by the sound of a delivery truck unloading boxes directly in front of the hotel at 6am. While not the worst place a person could stay at, given the choice again, I would stay someplace else.

Stayed here for one night and had no problems. Big clean room, very helpful and friendly staff, especially at breakfast. Easy on and off the I-90 with numerous shopping and eating options nearby. Great stay.
