Went for a 4th of July Motorcycle Group stay. Manager did not tell people upfront it would be an additional $65 dollars per single occupancy in the email sent to us or over the phone when reserving room. Once checked in we were told we got the better of the two rooms...If that was the better, I would hate to see the worst. Cobwebs, hair in tub, air conditioning barely worked, musty smelling room, mattresses old and saggy, refridge did not keep anything cold...room was a throw back from the 60s. Pool area was disgusting dirty diapers, bandaids and trash not picked up from day before. Would not recommend at all!!!
Positives, Housekeeper was nice and food was good.

The carpet smelt bad ," musty" ... the food was ok . The staff over the phone with me were rude . Met the owner , he was nice .Ants in the room. ...I could've paid $100 less a night and gotten better room conditions at a Best Western . I would NOT go again for the price I was charged for the same hotel room . They should place pictures of how the room really look like. Single occupancies are penalized 25% extra ...I never heard of such a thing

We went on one of the event weekends and had a good time, The upgraded room was clean and comfortable. The event we attended included food which was prepared by the owners son which were very tasty At night the atmosphere was very tranquil unless you attended one of the performances by the bands in the bar which were very entertaining.Overall we had a happy stress free time.

Room Tip: Try to get an upgraded room. Book early,

My wife and I have been attending the May corvette rally at the Blackthorne Resort in East Durham, NY, on and off for seven years. The founders built the resort many years ago, so the accommodations are clean but dated. However, the dining hall and downstairs nightclub are brand new, rebuilt from the ground up after a fire in 2011. Then again, the draw was a weekend out in the Catskills with fellow corvette enthusiasts. That’s what attracted us to the resort and that’s why we return. The 1st year, my wife and I stayed in a two story bungalow away from our main group. The room was clean but had a musty smell. The accommodations were marginal at best and the price was high. It rained Friday and Saturday but the weather broke for the show on Sunday. The food is included in the price, so was a cruise and train ride on Saturday afternoon. Overall, the weekend was quite enjoyable. We certainly didn’t go hungry and the staff was great!
The 2nd time we moved down to the “porch” directly across from the dining hall. The rooms were bigger and came equipped with a small kitchenette. After the Saturday cruise, our group took advantage of the seating on the porch to get together for some fun, laughter, and shenanigans. Now, we stay at the porch rooms whenever we come up for a corvette show.
Next year, 2014, the corvette rally is in mid June rather than mid May. According to the locals, the weather is nicer and the temperature a wee bit more enduring. The change in show dates to June and the continued renovation by the resort staff may restore event attendance to past levels. We shall see next year. Our room is booked and we look forward again to good times.
