Roycroft is a beautifully restored hotel, and for those who love the arts and crafts, this is a must see. Bradbury wallpapers, jacuzzi tubs, and the Stickley furnishings are to die for. What is not to die for- the food at the restaurant. The fish- overcooked- the chef couldnt sear a piece of tuna to save his life. Appetizers- bland, nothing to write home about. However the rest. manager did try and make it right, but at that point, we just wanted to head to our room.

Got back to the room- we decided to take a jacuzzi bath. Filled the tub to the right level, but I guess it was too much- once we got in the front desk called up within a minute to say it was leaking through the ceiling. We couldnt understand how that could have been, when we didnt even have it filled up to the top. Second complaint- it being the first night away from our infant, we were hoping to get a good night rest- not at the Roycroft. At 4am, the outside patio music starting blasting away. When we called down to the desk the young woman said- oh must be a button got pushed. Who is fussing with buttons at 4am?!? So by the time the folks upstairs finally settled down from being woken up it was 5am before we got back to sleep. By 8am the free breakfast- and the music started back up again.

So much for rest and relaxation. We were never offered anything for our complaints- just a verbal sorry. For $140 a nite, we would have liked perhaps something more. My final compaint is not with the inn, but rather that not many shops in the town are open on sunday. The roycroft shops across the street- closed. so if you plan on going, and want to do some browsing of some a&c items, antiques, etc, get there early enough on saturday. One good comment- go to the school house gallery, a bit out of town but a real seeing the true craftsmanship!! Vidlers is a real treat to- just about anything you would ever want is in there.

It's all in the details. This historical inn has been wonderfully restored and modernized. The furnishings alone are reason enough to stay, and the dining experience is top notch. Service is outstanding......ENJOY!

Terrific old hotel. This hotel built in 1905 has been lovingly restored. When you arrive, be sure to get the free tour. We had a suite of a bedroom, sitting alcove and roomy vertibule. The bathroom with its jacuzzi tub was terrific. The furnishings were Stickley reproductions and the restarant was just fine. A couple of quibbles. We bought the special dinner and room combination. It is not clear that we saved any money with this combo. Also the breakfast buffet left something to be desired. Otherwise very top parks.
