Full disclosure: I really love the Arts & Crafts style (some call it "Craftsman" or "Mission"). So the Roycroft was a true destination for my wife & me. If you're not into the history, and just looking for a modern hotel with amenities like a pool, etc -- this may not be your place. It's a very historic, old inn that has been beautifully restored. Our room was huge! -- a suite, really more like four rooms: sleeping area, huge sitting room, very large bathroom, and another large open space when you entered the room. I think they combined a lot of rooms when they did the restoration, to create these large suites. Service was good, although we really didn't need or ask for anything special. We ate two meals in the restaurant, which is excellent. If you're going to East Aurora to tour the Roycroft campus, this is THEEE place to stay. We did notice that they seem to have a lot of functions, weddings, meetings of local organizations, etc so sometimes there are sections of the restaurant that are closed -- but there are always other sections that are open. We felt the price for lodging was very reasonable, considering the historic nature of the place. Highly recommended if you're looking for the historic-old-inn experience!

Room Tip: We were in the "newest" section (which is still about 100 years old!), the large building at the south end -- which might have the largest rooms.

I had a lovely stay at the Roycoft Inn; for me it's one of those places that even when it's bad it's good. Since I live in an arts and crafts house, I love the Stickley furniture throughout, and all of the arts and crafts touches including the pithy sayings carved on the doors, the frescoes, dining on the big verandah, the wood burning fireplace in the DR, and the live quartet over sumptuous Sunday brunch. I find the meals in the USA are always very large portions and since you can't take a doggy bag on vacation, I'd split one of these big meals with your partner and have a starter salad and a dessert. The peach crème brule was yummy, and big! Only drawback on this stay was that I was there on a Saturday night and there was a wedding so it was a bit noisy and crowded but fun and festive nonetheless. There is a little gift shop behind the main desk that looks prohibited but they will indeed let you enter and browse around. (I wish a continental breakfast was included.)

If you've never been to East Aurora, I suggest you watch the PBS documentary on Elbert Hubbard and how the inn and campus all came to be, it's well worth it. Here is the link to a fascinating story of a man with unbridled ego :

Room Tip: I'd stay higher up or in the guest house in case there's a wedding.

We stayed at the Roycroft Inn with a group, and had a very nice time. Rooms were spacious, and the location with respect to the town was perfect. Nice bar and restaurant and the service was wonderful.

Room Tip: No issues on picking a room, as views do not come into play. I would want to be off of the first floor, however.

Stayed in this lovely Inn for a weekend. The rooms are beautiful -- furniture and woodwork all done in Mission Oak. Great location and the only good option in East Aurora, NY. Our room was immaculate. Front desk staff friendly and helpful.

Delightful stay in the Inn...suites with furniture from the era of the Roycroft movement. Dining on the veranda was excellent. A tour of the buildings was lead byan excellent docent. The whole Roycroft experience is in the process of being brought back, follow the progress and enjoy a great facility.

Room Tip: Rooms are pricey, but certainly worth it. But if the budget doesn't permit, other choices in East Aurura.
