“Consistently high quality food”

All food from Ruben sandwich, to pastas, artisan pizzas, & unusual entrees such as rabbit & cassoulet and so much more are excellent. It is all about the food.

“Great dinner and service”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Spectacular menu and a busy, efficient kitchen. Our waiter was generous with advice about what to see and where else to eat during our visit.

“Great food”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

It's worth the drive to East Aurora just to dine at this remarkable establishment. Housed in an old grain mill, the space has high ceilings and shows the old bones of the building as part of the decor. It can get quite loud when busy. The menu will stupefy you with its sheer size and complexity. The wine and beer lists are equally extensive. whenever we were there, the staff were friendly, competent and attentive. The food is prepared with skill, imagination and intelligence. Prices are quite reasonable. We have eaten there whenever we were in the vicinity, and have always been completely satisfied.

“Generous rating for a below average restaurant.”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

My wife and I recently visited the Tantalus Restaurant for our anniversary dinner. We didn't feel like dressing up in the middle of the week nor driving far. This was our third visit to this restaurant and its out our system and probably our last ! We were familar with the noise but, thought we could endure it.We were seated promptly and that was the only thing that was prompt. Our server finally meandered over after a 10 minute wait (the restaurant was not busy)She explained their specials and took our drink order.Approximately 10 minutes later she returned to take our order ,sans drinks. My wife politely said she would like our cocktails while we peruse the menu. The waitress returned 5 minutes later with our drinks which by no means were worth the wait. The menu is overwhelming and its layout all over the place. We finally ordered our salads and main course and received the salads with some bread and oil.The main courses of Lasagna with a side meatball and my wifes ravioli arrived shortly thereafter. My portion was small and my wifes was average....While she enjoyed hers ,mine was below average in taste and the meatball was disgusting....The actual highlight of the meal was the salad, bread and oil for me.We finally got our bill and were in a hurry to get to the Bakery behind the restaurant to salvage something out of this disappointing dinner. On all three visits the service was well below par and food was average.Maybe a scaled down menu and some trained wait staff are in order....

“Many, many choices”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

This is a nice restaurant in East Aurora, just down the street from Vidler's.

Meal was good, and hot. Service was good too. Everyone wanted to please, and they did.

Bread with dipping oil was served immediately. Very nice.
