Local beef carpaccio, corn chowder, pear tart, opah, champagne. Too full for dessert, but choices great. Walk in fireplace was aglow and several other tables enjoying dinner, very efficient service. My wife and I thought this was our best meal thus far. We look forward to having a lovely dinner here every time we are in Hamilton.

"Poolville Country Store Resturant" needs to be put on your "just can't miss list". The resturant is a 1800's building impeckably clean and well maintained. The atmosphere is a walk back in time. It has a huge walk in size fireplace. the atmosphere is charming and peaceful. the food is the very best i've had in a very long time. the servings are huge! the service outstanding. The prices for a very classy menu are reasonable and You walk away knowing it was worth every penny and that you got the best of the deal. This is one resturant i truely look forward to going to again and again when we stay in the area again.

We had our seven year old with us and felt as welcome as when it is just the adults. Thank you for another lovely meal! I am a soup fanatic and enjoy the creations you have, as well as the entire meal.

A hidden gem near Colgate University. Gourmet food. Great atmosphere. Professional service. Nice wine list. The menu features local produce, and natural meats free of antibiotics and hormones. We thoroughly enjoyed the escargots in puff pastry and lemon tarragon chicken. Though we didn't save room for a decadent dessert, we enjoyed the chocolate truffle that accompanied the check.

This restaurant came highly recommended, but our experience didn't live up to the hype. Quality of the appetizers were uneven. The Calamari was tasty with an interesting polynesion glaze, and very tender too! The crab cakes were really over-powered with minced red pepper, and tasted bready, although the texture was agreeably light and crumbly. Our entres were an even bigger let down. My companion's pork tenderloin au poivre was substituted with a grilled pork chop, and the dijon-fontina-brandy-cream-sauce was overly thickened, with too strong an influence of fontina cheese. The smashed potatoes which accompanied were just average. My dish was a blue marlin special with some interesting flavors but it was very dry and rubbery, defintiely the low point of the meal. Both of us were stuck with the only vegetable offered: kale, lightly cooked, but so heavily salted that it was virtually inedible. The one dessert we tried was a very competent and smooth creme brulee. The service was attentive, and the atmosphere seemd very romantic, spoiled only by an overly exuberant table of 8 whose conversation was so rudely loud that a quiet conversation with my companion was virtually impossible. I'm not sure there was enough good to give it a second chance, let alone recommend it to others.
