This hotel was a good deal . Location is great. We watched the sunset on Lake Erie. The room was big and clean. Nice choice of pillows. Cable Tv stations are limited. Bathroom was big and clean. Nice bar and restaurant . Breakfast was included and good.
Inside and outside swming pools are nice. The outside could be a bit nicer and should be updated
Overall a nice place

I could not really tell if the hotel was outdated or just very poorly maintained. Our room was dirty and our entire hall smelled of smoke and marijuana. The marijuana smell came from the room across the hall. This room was dark and unoccupied. I know this because the door was left wide open, as if to "air out" the room. I have to ask...who has access to these unsold rooms? Maybe one of the young inattentive kids working the front desk? I find this completely unacceptable. The manager, Ashok Chopra's apologies are empty and unprofessional. Upon reading some of the other reviews, this does not surprise me. Travelers, stay away from this hotel at all costs. Clarion, please do something about this run down hotel and incompetent manager.

The check in process was pleasant with the front desk staff. There was a shortage of luggage racks that made it difficult to get all of our baggage up to our room. The lobby was clean but could use some updates. The hallways were very warm (and it was cool outside!) and carpeting looked soiled and worn. Our room was close to the ice machine but it did not bother us. Again, the room was worn but clean. You could tell housekeeping did their very best with what they had. I was disappointed that there wasn't a mini fridge in the room like I asked them to provide. When I called the front desk they told me that "none" of the rooms had them. I found out later that they do have them but it was first come first served to get them! We opted to eat at the Fireside restaurant down the road instead of the restaurant on property. However, the complimentary breakfast was very good. All in all, it was an OK stay, on comfortable, clean beds, with good pillows and polite staff. I guess I was expecting a little more for the price and Clarion name.

Room Tip: Getting a "good" room is the luck of the draw!

we made a reservation on-line for a king. When we arrived they didn't have the king available. We went for a wedding that was up the road. They incorrectly blocked rooms for the whole wedding and the manager was disrespectful to the bride and groom and locked them out of there room claiming they hadn't booked for two days. The indian manager is disrespectful and the front desk is run by young clueless kids. I will never go back!!!

I was expecting a nice, clean, well maintained property since Clarion is supposed to be a good hotel. That was not the case. The exterior is run down a bit, the room was fairly clean but worn and it had a lot of spiders around the windows, both inside and outside of the room. The view of Lake Erie was excellent but the windows were dirty and appeared to have traces of old bird droppings on them. The hallways don't seem to be air conditioned and are very humid. The area the hotel is in is also a little run down and rough looking. Overall, it was a disappointing hotel stay and probably in the bottom 5 % of hotels I have stayed in.

Room Tip: If you choose to stay here, which I would not do again, it is worth the extra $10 for a lake-view ro...

Hotel overall is old and outdated. Carpets in the hallways were stained. The people at registration are easily flustered when presented with multiple check ins. We had an awful experience with the restaurant. After driving 7 hours we wanted to stay in the hotel and eat. The inside restaurant had about 2 tables with diners and the outside maybe 6 tables of 4. The manager Ashok Chopra asked us to wait at the bar this is at 7:30 pm and have a drink and he would get a table ready. 10 minutes later he returned to say it would be a little longer and we should have another drink because the kitchen was backed up. We were finally seated after 45 minutes. Now we place an order for wing peal and eat shrimp and 3 onion soups. One of our friends goes back to her room to get some snacks. We finally get our appetizers 30 to 40 minutes later. We ask to see a manager. They send a waitress she says they are busy. People have come in after us to eat and are being served and leave before our meals arrive. We finally receive or dinners at 9:45 pm. Some of the food is wrong. Finally Ashok returns and try's to justify the ineptness of service. He is very rude and definitely no customer friendly. He offers us a free round of drinks. We decline. Finally he comps us the appetizers. The waitress takes one of the dinners off because it was the wrong thing.
Well now we go to our room the air conditioner is not working. I cal the desk 2 young men come check the unit and tell us we will have to move. They take us to a suite room with an airconditioner that works. This is 10:45 pm. We go out the next day to a wedding and when we return we find our door wide open and and 3 of the staff strewing rose petals all over the room. We ask what is going on. They tell us that someone else is coming to this room and that we have to move. This is at 9:45pm. We are quite upset. The phone rings and the bridal consultant is on the phone stating that they left a message on our home phone telling us we had to move. Duh I am 400 miles away from home. Now the manager Ashok Chopra shows up to the room and says they told us the move the night before was temporary. They never told us that. He starts to argue with my husband. Now the bridal consultant arrives. She apologizes for the misunderstanding and tells us to stay in the room. Never to return to the Clarion in Dunkirk and they should fire the lacking in people skills manager.

Room Tip: Do not stay here
