This was the first winery we visited on our trip to the finger lakes and it set a great standard for the rest of our tastings. You can tell the new owners are very passionate and excited about the winery and its future. We got there a little on the early side on a week day so we had the whole place to ourselves. Our tasting was done by the brother of the owner and we had a great time with him. He was very personable and gave us a lot of information about the area, local wines and also the wineries expansion. The owner came over regularly during our tasting to interject a bit of information. After out tasting we were treated to a tour of the new addition. I would definitely recommend stopping by and checking out this winery.

We like our wines semi sweet and sweet so we were thrilled with this wineries selection. The staff treated us like friends and were very knowledgable about their line of wines.

Villa Bellangelo recently was at the Canandaigua Wine walk and we tried their wine and decided to visit the winery. Such a beautiful building and the view is probably the best view of the Lake ever! The gentleman who served us was very knowledgeable and engaging. The young woman the the cash register is such a delight! We met one one of the owners and his wife and they took the time to talk with us. Such a great experience. Oh, and wine is super!

Villa Bellangelo Winery is Beautiful. It has gone through recent renovations and has an amazing view of Seneca Lake right at the Tasting Bar. I hope you get Laure who is from France, she explains the wines very thoroughly and is a joy to talk to. Their website is Bellangelo.com and has a great story on how a family bought this winery recently and has been renovating it and putting out some fantastic wines. The wines that we recommend are: Francesca Rose'09; Excellent, Merlot '10; Excellent, Dry Riesling '11; Excellent, Seyval Blanc '11; Excellent and we got Gewurtraminer '11 my husband's choice and I can't say because I didn't try it. I think the tasting fee was $3.00 for 5 wines.

When we went there on Monday, October 15, 2012, the diningroom was not open for business. That will be open sometime in the future I'm sure. I hope to return next October to get the same wines that we got this year.

We heard that Bellangelo had new owners and stopped in to check it out. We were *very* pleasantly surprised. The wines from the new winemaker were very nice. Expect Bellangelo to focus on Riesling going forward.

We tried a nice partly-oaked Chardonnay, a very nice Seyval (not usually my favorite varietal, but this one didn't have the anise flavor I dislike & was nice and fruity - apparently the grower planted a little on land that usually would be reserved for higher-priced Riesling, in honor of his late father who loved Seyval), a great Riesling and a lovely and reasonably priced red blend. They have also just introduced a "Scooter" line - White, Pink & Red - in a pouch, about $15-17 for 1.5l (=2 regular bottles) - sweeter than the bottled wine, but very well made, unusually high quality for a mass-market line.

We'll definitely stop in again! The property was once completely planted in grapes (in the 1800's), and the new owners plan to plant grapes on the land below the tasting room - will be fun to watch the progress.

Also, the tasting bar is one of the few on this side of the Seneca Lake with a gorgeous direct view of the lake while you are tasting :)
