The Juliana
Reviewed May 19, 2014 via mobile

We'll definitely be back! My husband is an avid fisherman and we plan a fishing getaway every year. This year we chose Lake George. And, the Juliana beat our expectations!

We stayed in unit #20 - a very comfortable queen size bed, a basic kitchen stocked with essentials, a nice gas grill, beautiful landscape, and a great view of the lake.

And, to our surprise, many locals said the Juliana is one of the best smallmouth bass locations on the lake. And they were right!!! My husband caught plenty of smallies right off the dock!

Lastly, Eric and staff were very friendly and welcoming! Great service all around!

See you next year!

My family visited the Juliana this past summer. We stayed in unit #28, one of the smallest motel units they offer. It was my wife, my toddler son and myself, and though the room was small, it was ample room for the three of us for the three nights we stayed. The room itself was comfortable despite having rather outdated furnishings and television. Oddly enough, even basic toiletries were not provided by management, so be prepared for that. In spite of this, the room was very clean and well maintained.
You're won't be drawn visiting the Juliana for the room accommodations per se, however what they lack in luxury they more than make up for with customer service and natural beauty. The property is located a few miles north of the town of Lake George. Close enough for easy access, but far enough away to be isolated from the touristy feel of that area. Due to its location, there are limited dining options in the immediate area, but it is less than a 10 minute drive to numerous options. Even better, some of the units offer full kitchens and there are numerous charcoal grills throughout the property that are free for guests to use (you provide the charcoal, obviously!), giving you some much more affordable options.
There is a very small but very beautiful beach that provides access to Lake George, and the property provides free use of its canoes. There is also a dock on site that you can rent out slip space for if you are inclined to bring or rent a motorboat. The dock also offers a great location for easy shore fishing, and there is a fish cleaning stations just beyond the beach area which is also offered free of charge. If you're into swimming, but not into lakes, there is also a small but very nice heated pool available towards the rear of the property. The owners live on site and are easily accessible. They clearly take great pride in the property, and provide lots of little extras for guests such as movie nights, etc. The landscaping is beautifully maintained, and the beach is obviously raked and cleaned daily.
Look, this place isn't The Sagamore. If that's what you're looking for, you'll be wildly disappointed. Of course, if you expected The Sagamore for what The Juliana is charging, clearly you need to reconsider what "realistic expectations" are. What The Juliana is is a very nice, clean, and AFFORDABLE option for taking your family to experience Lake George and the Adirondack Mountains, which is an option that is quickly disappearing in that area.

We stayed at the Juliana for a week every summer for seventeen years in a row. We decided to go on a cruise the 18th year, then our oldest went to college so we could no longer travel to upstate NY from Raleigh NC area. Juliana is an updated lovely place. The owners are fantastic, the view is spectacular and the amenities are great. Best value on the lake. The rooms are spacious, it's great that the upper units (by the pool) have kitchens! Some have full tubs, some have showers...tubs are better when the kids were little. The cleaning girls do a wonderful job. I wish we could keep going and someday go with our grandkids, but the drive it too much for us now that we've been in NC for about eight years. We've always loved it there and hope to come back again some day. Close to LG Village, Fireworks, dining, all kinds of shopping, etc. Bolton Landing up road.

Room Tip: Stay up top where the private decks are. Units 1-4. IF you can get in, that is! Those rooms are u...

Stayed in a 2 BR Unit with leather sofabed in the LR and a kitchen. Kitchen is fully stocks with utensils, pots and pans and plates. There is a gas BBQ grill in front of each unit which we cooked our dinner with. There is a Tops Supermarket in Boltan Landing about 5 miles away.
The resort is nice and quiet and is a great place for family with children. We enjoyed the heated pool which is great when the weather is cooler in Sept. There is a badminton court, a playground, a basketball hoop, a swimming area with beach and kayak and row boats for guests.
The only compliant I have is that the water pressure for the shower is very weak and the wall mounted TV in the living room is tiny, only a 22" LCD tv for a large living room. I think minimum should be 32" as there is room for it on the wall. Also the check out time is kind of early at 10 am.

After hopping around LG resorts over the years, we think we finally found the one that offers the best family experience. We just returned home and the kids want to go back. The beach was nice, rooms clean, pricing reasonable, housekeeping was excellent (slight extra fee) and the owner shows warm hospitality. Many guests appear to be regulars or part of established groups. We eventually broke the ice with nice folks at the lakefront firepit. Kids had other kids to play with of all ages. Sometimes paddles for kayaks were hard to come by, because a few other guests would commandeer them, even when not in use. I recommend a new policy, to just leave them at the beach. The place is really all around nice fit for our family and we'll be back next year!

My husband and I just visited the Juliana after a recommendation from a family member. I am really glad we stayed here, the grounds and beach are beautiful. The owners really care about their hotel as it shows in the way they treat their guests and maintain the grounds and hotel units. I plan on returning next year.
