Capri Village on Lake George
Reviewed August 18, 2010

We stayed in the motel-efficiency room for $145/night. Room was average, but clean. Kitchenette clean and adequately appointed. Beach area not huge, but clean and nice sandy bottom (no surf shoes needed). Grounds and pool were well maintained. Amenities, other than pool, were a little tired and old. Wooden structure playground needed some new paint and a board was loose, causing my daughter to fall through to the ground (luckily not hurt other than a scrape). My husband showed the manager who said he would address right away (we didn't follow up to check to see if he did). Kayaks and rowboat available. Nice little fishing dock. Fairly steep hill to climb to get down to the lake, but not impossible. Overall, satisfied with our stay. Wouldn't mind coming back, but also wouldn't mind checking out other properties. Not the nicest place I've ever stayed, but certainly not the worst. For the price, I'd say it was as expected.

This is a family owned business where the owners are on sight daily, the resort is clean and beautifully kept flower beds and landscaping. The resort has boat docks along with swimming dock, playground & heated pool. Capri Village has many families who vacation there year after year so after a few visits you make friends with other families around you. Our room was in the newly remodeled section of the resort and was provided a daily maid service who cleaned everything and made the beds daily. If your thinking about visiting Lake George try this resort first!

First and foremost, this is a budget hotel. Don't expect anything 5-star. We stayed for two nights during Memorial Day weekend as a stopping point before our next destination. Reviews I read prior to my booking stated the back-side property was run down and had popssibly been damaged by fire. That is the side we stayed on. Whatever happened to it in the past is not an issue anymore. The room was fresh, plain and comfortable. The other review I had seen was that a bunch of bikers always reserved the same weekend and they were well-behaved but loud. They were, in fact, well-behaved. I can't comment on the noise as we were on the opposite side from them. The neighbors that were close to us were quite loud the second night. It would be nice if the office was opened an hour or two later to ensure guests are in compliance with noise policies prior to the staff departing the property.

The property has a small sandy beach and deck area with chairs and umbrellas, a heated pool and a nice playground for the kiddies. These amenities made for a relaxing stay. The property also has other amenities we did not utilize, such as kayaks, horsh shoes and a few other things. With the exception of our noisy neighbors on the second night, we had a pleasant stay.

Although not related to the hotel, the area boasts dining boats a few miles away in Lake George Village. I believe it was the Minehaha that we went on. The boat was nice but the food was terrible. My daughter scored a hot dog after refusing everything else. I was quite envious. She had the best food.
