A friend and I (plus her 19 year son and friend) spent the weekend of August 16-18th at Darien Lake, We were able to score a RV rental for the weekend at catch the Jason Aldean concert the Saturday night. The RV was very clean. We stayed on Ontario Place Drive which encircles a large field with soccer nets. The noise level was perfect...maybe even too quiet if you are looking to party at night. We had RV 434, which had a queen size bed, and 2 sets of bunk beds at the opposite end. It was enough room for the four of us...once we arranged our luggage and other belongings so that none of us were tripping over each other. The RV had a large fridge with a freezer, a stove top, microwave, AC and regular toilet (not the normal RV/airplane toilets). The shower was decent,,,,low head room if you are tall. There was a sign indicating that the hot water would only last 15 mins and would take 45 mins to heat up again, but we were able to have 3 of us shower back-to-back (maybe 10-15 mins inbetween) and had plenty of water.
We decided not to bring a lot of food, we didn't feel like cooking. The General Store on site has a lot to choose from if you want to cook a meal. We ate at the Beaver Brothers restaurant twice...large portions and very well priced. The food was excellent too! A lot of choices.
The amusement park was less than a 2 minute walk away, which was great. However the rides only had one set of cars, so the line ups for the rollar coasters were long. The waterpark was far more disappointing. The workers took a long time loading up the next group of people on the tubes for the slides. A number of slides were not even open. The lazy river was a disaster! They now allow people to swim, and childern were popping up all over the place getting pushed under by the tubes and peoples feet.....an accident waiting to happen! You are able to rent tubes, so you don'y have to wait in line for one...do this...it costs $8, but you get a $2 deposit back.
The concert was incredible! For campers there is a seperate enterance in the amusement park so you don't have to park in the main lot at the stage. Also when returning to the campground once the show was over, they open the amusement part gates to let you through.
Overall it was great! It was the first time I was there and well worth it. I can't wait to go back next year.
