we were there there in 2012 and it was absolutely gorgeous, the thing that was unfortunate was that there was a drought and not as much water , but still spectactular.

Stony brook is a great place to wander trails and hike. Then top off the afternoon with a picnic. I should spend more time in this beautiful place!

We brought our dog and stopped at the picnic area near the Bathhouse. We came into the park from the North entrance. During the week if you are over 60 you do not pay to park. The brook is running and a bridge crosses over it. There is a covered pavilion and rest rooms. The weather was perfect.

We came one the expressway-Rt 390 but took route 36 back to Rochester through the country. There are cabins for those who want to stay longer and trails for hiking. The park is about 45 minutes to and hour south of Rochester, NY

Stony Brook is a great place to camp, especially near the creek. These sites are mostly rocky with a few shade trees. Don't count on any grass. Bathrooms are ok.

There are several hiking trails that can give you a good workout. Hiking portions of the creek is also fun, but do so with water shoes that have decent soles. The naturally fed pool reopened this year after being closed for a few years. Water temp, when I have been there, is normally in the mid to upper 50s.

The swimming pool is open this summer (it was not open for a few summers) and there is a wonderful camping area at the South Park a few miles up Route 36.
