This used to be one of our favorite restaurants when we moved to the area in 2002. Everything was consistently excellent, the menu was novel, the chef would often come out to see that everything was being enjoyed, and the staff was reliably friendly and quick to be sure you had everything you wanted.
Nowadays, not so much. The staff now borders on surly half the time, and they often forget parts of the order. The menu hasn't particularly changed since they opened, and the specials have lost their flair. Even the quality of the food has suffered. My favorite dish used to be the Tuscan Steak Sandwich offered on the dinner menu. The dish was flavorful, and the steak was always gristle-free and thinly sliced. The last 3 times I tried to order this dish, the steak had been cut too thick, so it was very chewy, and it was loaded with gristle and fat (hard to see under the balsamic glaze). It seems they decided to sacrifice on which cuts of meat they use, and the time and care put into the preparation. What a disappointment!
The burgers are still good, and the pastas are usually reliable. Desserts are still well-prepared and tasty. For a decent priced meal with moderate expectations, Justin Thyme is still ok. It just isn't what it used to be. Where has the Justin Thyme I knew and loved gone?
