My favorite dish is "Evil Jungle Prince" - both for the flavour of the creamy Thai curry, and for the way its name evokes the slightly offbeat character of this delightful restaurant. The menu ranges all over the culinary map and includes a large number of dishes to suit vegans, gluten-avoiders and locavores. The portions are large, the staff bend over backwards to accommodate special wishes, and as mentioned by other reviewers, The Umami has a relaxed atmosphere that is very child-friendly. The only downside to its popularity is that the restaurant can be very noisy - this was a problem for an elderly, hearing-impaired guest on a recent, busy evening. But I will surely return for another taste!

An interesting array of flavors that came together to provide a satisfying meal. A perfect stop before we visited the Pumpkin Blaze down the street. They have a fantastic pumpkin display which delighted us as we got in the spirit of Halloween. Great place, we will visit again.

Reliably good and sometimes great. This is a very reasonably priced restaurant in an expensive area. It's got plenty of variety, tastes for everyone, even kids. Favorites are the Tuna wasabi tacos, spicy curry chicken, steak, and changing fresh seafood dishes.
Seasonal changes in menu and sourcing from local farms helps create fresh and tasty specials.
The wait staff is attentive keeping homemade potato chips and ice water full. It can be a little noisy so go late for a more intimate, romantic time.
Many of the sauces do tend to be sweet so make sure to ask if that's an issue for you. Often they can provide an alternative sauce.

Umami is the kind of place that you always feel comfortable going to. The service is very attentive and the food is always interesting with changing seasonal specials. The fusion style menu adds diversity. It's our go to place when we do not feel like cooking. There $ 10 burgers on Tuesdays, $10 wine on Wednesdays and $5 small plates on Thursdays. Great place if you are in the Croton on Hudson area.

Finally ventured here after thinking about going for years. The menu is quite varied so there should be something that pleases everyone. I had the duck fried rice which was very good. Hubby had the falafel app which left me disappointed and some sausage/bratwurst dish that was just OK. We went on a Wednesday which is $10 off a bottle of wine (GREAT DEAL!). The kids however loved it. They served the grilled cheese without the crust and cut into squares. I am now demanded to cut the same way at home! The pasta with butter was just that. The toy selection in the entry way was loved by our two 6 year olds. We would go back because the kids loved it which means a more peaceful meal for us and the wine was a bargain. We hope to like the food better on our second try. I went in thinking it would be Peter Pratt's-esque and it wasn't close. Love Peter Pratts but can't justify spending $17 for pasta with butter.
