“Quaint yet pricey”
Reviewed March 23, 2012

The Inn keeper Tom was a wonderful host...The rooms were very cold, we were left firewood, that didn't work out very well. It warmed the room slightly we were left with the smell of smoke.
Breakfast was nice, for a stay of $ 225.00 a night on off season it was disappointing. I have stayed at Bed and Breakfasts all over the country, this was truly the most expensive.
The house is unique unto itself , the antiques are beautiful.

We ended up staying the Garden Room, which was very fitting since the wallpaper, bedding, drapes, wall art, and pretty much everything else in this room and about the Alexander Hamilton house was floral. But after a day hiking Breakneck Ridge, a cozy place to come home to was perfect. The room was very comfortable, with full bathroom off the suite, lots of space, and a complimentary (and delicious) homemade breakfast the next morning. The common amenities include a piano, game room and lots of classic board games, and a pool (although we didn’t use it since the visit was in February). Admittedly, there is not much to do in Croton-on-Hudson besides visit the Croton Dam or dine at a handful of quaint restaurants, but the Alexander Hamilton House is well-situated to see everything, even without a car.

We spent a wonderful weekend at Alexander Hamilton House again, this time in the Master Suite, and enjoyed Innkeeper Tom's bountiful gourmet breakfast and spectacular hospitality. The value for the dollar is certainly here and we felt that we should be paying much more, frankly (but don't tell Tom that!).

Room Tip: They are all clean of course, elegant, restful, and very attractive.

Not a lot to say, other than to say we had a lovely little getaway. The house was charming, the village was quaint and the people were nice. We ate at Bella donna and it was fantastic! Tom was so cheery and helpful and we thought the whole experience really couldn't have been any nicer.

Despite horrific rain and wind, Our stay was absolutely delightful. One in the Yellow Room, one in the Library, both really happy with our choice. We loved the breakfasts. The beds were very comfortable, and the Victoriana delightful. The person complaining about the Library has probably never owned, or lived in an old house. Back in "the day" there were not TV,s microwaves and refrigerators in the bedrooms...... I saw no dust in the closet..... Heard no bumps in the night. The fire would have been very lovely had we had time to use it. Owners Barbara and Steve were in from the Cape, and were delightful. Easy walk to almost everywhere in a delightful old town........Unless you are a hopeless fuss pot, don't miss this one.....

Room Tip: On a quiet day, Got to snoop at all the unoccupied rooms. All are absolutely lovely, and as adverti...

My husband and I were looking for a nice weekend getaway not too far from our Long Island home. The Alexander Hamilton House in Croton-on-Hudson turned out to be the PERFECT choice in a jewel of a location. The house was absolutely beautiful in every way with its delightfully appointed Victorian decor. We felt so comfortable from the moment we walked in the door--it was as if the house was giving us a big hug! We stayed in the Rose Room which was warm, cozy, and so inviting. Our host for the weekend was Barbara, the owner of the house. She was simply charming! Barbara's very engaging and personable nature made us feel so welcome; we enjoyed her company immensely. The breakfast was delicious, coffee outstanding, and the accommodations were just perfect. On our ride home we decided that our weekend experience at the Alexander Hamilton House may very well have been the most comfortably cozy place we've ever had the pleasure of staying at.

I can't say enough good things. I stayed here for my birthday with my husband and another couple. Amazing! Best view, best coffee, best breakfast, and THE Best host ever. Tom is fantastic. So very welcoming and accomomdating. No need to set your alarm for breakfast, you can hear his delightful whistling as he prepares your tasty, hot and fresh meal each morning! He's funny too;) I have found my home away from home.

Room Tip: We chose the Library suite, and I secretly peeked at the other rooms. It doesn't matter which ro...
