“So lucky to have a park this amazing”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

In my opinion, this is one of the best parks in the tri-state area. The dam is absolutely amazing. The water is so powerful, especially if you go a few days after it rains. My husband and I regularly hike the zig-zagged path through the woods, up to the top to look out over the reservoir on the other side. I just wish stupid people would stop grafitti-ing the area at the top! ("Stop Kony" is SO 2011!)

Definitely worth a trip, and there's plenty of room for a picnic too. Just make sure you don't forget your camera!

“Spectactular in Mid Spring”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

The waterfalls at Croton in mid-spring are unbelievable. The water level is very high due to the snow melt making the water falls over 300 ft long and very strong. It is just an unbelievable sight. It makes you wonder why let all this fresh water go to waste. The park is nice, but the main attraction is the dam itself. How the workers moved all those large stones into place is just unbelievable. If you are a nature lover don't miss this. Been here many times and just decided to write about it.

“The Niagara of Westchester”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

The New Croton Dam is a spectacular sight in Westchester County. Its waterfall makes it unique. Very few places like it. It's a little hard to reach, tucked away in Croton-on-Hudson, and parking is limited. There's a parking lot in the lower part, which provides a great view of the falls and the waterway below. Great year-round, as some of the water freezes in winter and creates huge natural ice sculptures. You get a different perspective up above, although there is really no parking up there - you basically have to park illegally (no one's really looking) and walk about a hundred yards in to see the view. It is definitely worth it. There are few places like this in the metropolitan area; another one would be the Great Falls in Paterson, N.J.

“A marvel”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

This structure is the second largest built of hand-hewn stone in the world, after the Pyramids of Egypt. Can be seen from top or from below (small park). One of the best kept secrets in the Northeast.
