Being a brand new hotel (Dec 2012) meant that every staff member aimed to please and all the beds, fixtures, and fitness center equipment are brand new. They're still working out some kinks, like not all electrical outlets work and their washers/dryers were broken for a few days, but overall the hotel suited me as an extended stay guest. Be aware that the rooms vary in size by a lot - some are small studios, some are huge with separate sitting rooms and multiple bathrooms/TVs, so ask the front desk. Every room has a cooktop and microwave/fridge, but there are no pots/pans/utensils for you to cook with (unlike Residence Inn) so if you want to take advantage of the cooktop, you'll need to bring your own. The hotel is located 5 blocks from the closest subway line (#7, 111th St Station, elevated platform) and if the shuttle drivers are not busy taking guests to the airports, they'll give you a lift to the station. Otherwise you'll have to walk through a working-class neighborhood, normally safe even at night.

We do not have pots and pans available in all rooms yet but they are available by request. We just added a third van which allows us to provide shuttle service to the train by request. What a great place and a brand new hotel. The staff are very friendly and cordial, and it is almost like coming home. The rooms are spacious, and almost unheard of in New York. They are well appointed and quite comfortable. Breakfast was great and in a relaxing atmosphere. I would call it the best place to stay at LaGuardia.
