“Family Owned with a Special Feel”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

This little italian restaurant came to us by way of a recommendation. Since my husband and I are both chefs... we always ask about the little independent places. We get so tired of the chains. Even though there were litterally 50 chain restaurants within a 5 mile radius... we were told to drive 15 minutes away to Sorges. So... after visiting the Corning Musuem of Glass (an absolute MUST do.) we went to Sorges. This little restaurant is very unpretentious. We were told that it burned down three years ago... and the towns people were so upset that their favorite spot was gone that the community raise some $50,000 to aid in the rebuilding. I can see why. Homemade pasta... the Ravioli was delicious. The minute we sat down we were offered a sample of a locally featured wine. I had a vanilla sherry that was out of this world. Lots of seafood offerings, creative pasta, and steaks. Try the panco breaded artichoke hearts with marinara. Yummy.

“Economical Breakfast”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

Had not been to Sorge's since the fire and rebuild. The breakfast is reasonable as was lunch, service was good, and food was good. This was a standby when I lived in Corning and still is, I do miss the atmosphere of the old restaurant.

“Treated like Cattle”
Reviewed December 6, 2012 via mobile

We went to eat dinner at Sorges after my Mother in Law passed away an towards then end our dinner were asked to hurry up cause they had a reservation. We were offered a dessert for OUR troubles. Will never go back. What a sad experience when our father in law was asked to move because of a reservation

“Very good Italian, no skimping here.”
Reviewed November 29, 2012 via mobile

Had the angry clam appetizer, very good and spicy in heavy tomato sauce, was skeptical, i normally do not like clams in tomato base, great with their homemade bread. Worth a try.
Dinner was a combination platter, excellent, needed a box for leftovers. Desert was a yummy carrot cake.

“Excellent Italian food!”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

Went with a group of 6 people, excellent food and menu/special choices. Large portions. Even the cheeseburger looked really good. Seafood chowder was a hit, the best we've ever had! Went home with leftovers and enjoyed again the next day. Homemade pastas were flavorful, and the warm, fresh bread melts in your mouth. Nice atmosphere. We celebrated 2 birthdays. It is a place we will definately visit again.
