The highlight of our tour was the glass blowing demonstration. These people are skilled artisans who take years to master their craft. The display of glass art was amazingly varied - so much more than the vases and figurines I was anticipating. The works that standout in my mind are the life sized glass ball gown; the tire and the ball made of spun glass.

Thank you for your review of your museum experience. Some of the pieces that you mentioned are visitor favorites! If you're interested sharing images of your favorite pieces with friends and family, check out our website and use the search box to browse the collection of images; you might even find a new favorite! Thank you for your comments on the glassblowing demonstration. I will be sure to pass along your remarks to the gaffers directly. Even though the demonstrations happen all day long, no two shows are alike and the artists are always having a great time sharing their passion with you. Thanks again for your review and we hope to see you again!

We didn't know what to expect, but it exceeded our expectations. The Contemporary glass exhibit will knock your socks off. Absolutely beautiful. Loads of exhibitions for kids. Nice historical selection of glass. Just perfect. I highly recommend it!

Thank you for visiting and the review. If you like contemporary glass I bet you enjoyed the new exhibition on Richard Marquis. Thank you also for appreciating our 35 centuries of glass in the collections galleries; there certainly is a lot to see regarding art, history, and then science! We are thrilled that you came to visit. Keep your eye on the upcoming exhibitions for more glass on view and don't forget to consider trying different glassworking techniques in the workshop space as The Studio the next time!

Thank you for the review of your travel to see us last year. We hope you find yourself traveling through The Finger Lakes of Upstate New York again this year and find yourself visiting us! We have some great exhibitions that highlight modern and historical glass through the year, as well as a NEW stage for our Hot Glass Show where you can enjoy the glassblowing demonstration. Great museum and gift shop. It is a lot of fun being able to blow glass and make something in their workshops. The snack bar/restaurant on site has surprisingly delicious food and a great selection. Not something that one would expect at a museum!! Give it a try!

We are thrilled that you took the time to visit us at CMOG during your visit to The Crystal City (Corning, NY). It sounds like you were able to Make Your Own Glass too and we'd love to see a photo of it if you're willing to share your craftsmanship; you're on your way to being a gaffer! Thanks again for reviewing not only the museum galleries, but your experiences in the Cafe as well. We aim to continue to exceed your expectations so bring your friends and stop back to see us soon!

It has been several years since we went to the CMOG. We spent the afternoon and still did not see half of it. The demonstrations are more than worth your time to see. The glass blowing is awesome. My only disappointment is so many of the ornaments and items in the gift shop are made in China. If you want to purchase something made in Corning, be sure to check the labels.

Thank you for your review! It's great to see our neighbors in the Twin Tiers of PA/NY. We are glad you took the opportunity to come see our new Hot Glass Show space and it sounds like you enjoyed all of the live, narrated demonstrations. I hope you also took the opportunity to check out the Made In Corning section of the Glassmarket that sells all locally crafted glass. Thanks again for visiting and be sure to check our events this year as there are many great exhibitions and celebrations of glass on the calendar for 2013.
