“Interesting Art Museum of Western Art”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

We purchased a combined ticket for the Corning Museum of Glass and The Rockwell Museum of Western Art. This is a small but interesting museum with some iconic examples of America's west. There were paintings, some sculpture, Indian beadwork, some pottery and while we were there a photographic exhibition from National Geographic. The collection is small but there is an interesting cross section of art showing the west. The shuttle bus from the car park to The Corning Museum also stops here making the Corning experience easy.

“A true gem--Excellent small museum on one subject”
Reviewed May 26, 2013 via mobile

What a delightful surprise! I have passed this museum on other visits to Corning, but this was the first time I had ever entered it. There was an Open House (free admission) due to Glassfest this past weekend. It is a carefully curated permanent exhibit on the single topic of art of the American West, covering cowboys, Indians, buffalo, horses, and the landscape of the American West. The building is impeccably painted and decorated in such a way as to complement the art being displayed, and the collection is carefully grouped and spaced out throughout the rooms in such a way to allow you to contemplate and appreciate each piece. This is a striking contrast to the sometimes overwhelming magnitude of the quantity of glass on display at the nearby Corning Museum of Glass. This collection can easily be seen in its entirety in one visit, and children over the age of seven should be able to stick with it long enough for you to see it all. If you are in Corning for more than half a day, purchase a combo ticket to see both the Corning Museum of Glass and the Rockwell Museum, and save a few dollars.

“Made me miss the West”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

As somebody who grew up out West, this museum's display of Western art made me long to go back. Even though it is small, the pieces of art are stunning. This is a very inexpensive way to make a quick trip out West!
