A normal old town main street shopping district. Nothing special, if u got other more interesting attractions, could miss this.

We went to Market street after spending a few hours in the museum. We were in Corning as a stopover on our drive to Niagara Falls in Ontario. We had very little time to spend here - most of which went in buying things at the Corning Factory Store. Prices are not really cheap for things in that store. Then spent some time near the clock tower - had the best ice-cream ever from a small sandwich shop right at that corner near the clock tower - I believe it was called Old Towne cafe or something like that. They serve huge servings of ice-cream even for a single scoop and it was the best tasting ice-cream any one of us had. This area was nice but not something I would want to go back to spend more time.

We liked the old-fashioned look of this area. Very picturesque. We were there over the Labor Day weekend and it just so happened that the Ferrari Club of America (didn't know there was one) as having a show. There was a jazz band playing outside in the square, which was nice until it began to rain!

There are several blocks of shops which represent second uses of the old buildings. Some are more interesting than others - we enjoyed the Crystal City Olive Oil shop. It was interesting to see the names of the former businesses.

Sadly, the arts revival in Corning seems to be a passing phase. There is still evidence of it but half of the shops are empty which is a little depressing. The remaining shops on the street are still a joy to visit but the town clearly needs an infusion of some serious cash.
