What a wonderful dining experience 22 Chestnut is! I have eaten here several times since it opened and everything has been delicious! Dinner, brunch, lunch, I can recommend it all. The atmosphere is modern, inviting and comfortable. The staff is friendly and attentive. 22 Chestnut is a fabulous addition to the village of Cooperstown!!

Elegant space-white linen and leather contrasting nicely with rustic wood, studio gray walls and pale pink roses creates casual modern environs. Food is clean, delicious, sophisticated and portioned appropriately unlike most restaurants in the coop which cater to "all you can eat" types. Cocktails are hand crafted and wine list has been carefully selected. Farm picked squash and shallot quiche with basil cream was nice for brunch while the handmade fettuccine with lobster was decadent. The watermelon salad is another standout as is the fried chicken. Coming from California and being used to fresh and creative menus in spaces resembling this decade-22 Chestnut is a welcome addition to this culinarily challenged town.

Went there the first week - a bit spotty, I had the flat bread ($14) of prosciutto, figs and camembert, excellent ! and the "Apple Slaw" which, incongruously had no apple whatsoever (it was just sliced red cabbage). She had the steak which was OK but tasted a bit like liver. (I like liver but do not particularly like my steaks to impersonate liver.)

Friends took us back tonight and, oh my, how they've improved - had the short ribs which were by far the best I've ever had anywhere. With lightly seasoned cauliflower & nuts, that was scrumptious. She had the chicken wrapped and seasoned and it too was delicious. Salad of local greens excellent. A+

Talk to the owner and told her about the Apple Slaw With No Apples, and raved about the rest. So bravo 22 Chestnut.

Dinner for three at this wonderful new restaurant was a great experience. Filet didn't need a steak knife, a butter knife would have sliced this juicy, delicate, and perfectly prepared steak. Watermelon salad was great. And a bucket of chicken! Chicken that the Colonel could only dream of. Excellent, attentive service and the daughter of the owner stops by just to check on us. A marvelous evening out. Steak costly, but the very best. Everything else very reasonable.

Cozy bar for lunch fare, trendy restaurant for dinner.

The bar is located behind the storefront that is currently serving as the pop-up shop for Beekman 1802, but come fall will be Susan Olli's shop for selling her dairy products (she is an artisanal butter maker). We were fortunate enough to have Susan tell us about her butter operation, and sampled her delicious product along with the most delicious biscuits I've had.

The bar area serves delicious drinks (the bartender was delightful) and fresh, healthy lunch fare.

We looked at the dining room, which is beautifully designed and comfortable.
