“Quaint, quiet, convenient!”
Reviewed September 21, 2012 via mobile

My wife an I needed a place to stay during our 3 day trip to Cpoperstown. The Gateway Inn caught my wife's attention and she booked a room for us.

The owners were friendly and helpful. The owner gives his guests a choice of one of his watercolor paintings, they're copies, but a pleasant surprise none the less.

The room was one of four in one of the buildings. Private entrance. The room had two beds, a queen and a twin. The rooms appoinents were cozy, the bath towels thick and fluffy though they could be bigger. My only compliant is that the fans in the bathroom are too loud. The fan on the room next to ours woke us up at 6AM.

We would stay here again next time we visit the Baseball Hall of Fame

We are pleased that you found our inn to be ‘Quaint, quiet and convenient’ - all being qualities that we strive for. Sorry about the fan, a day before you posted your comment, the bearing burnt out – obviously the root of your early morning awakening. Rest assured, the problem has been resolved. It is also warming to know that you appreciated the complimentary matted watercolor print. A prior guest said that it was his best Cooperstown Souvenir. For us, it is merely one way that we show our clientele that we appreciate they selected Gateway Inn & Suites as their resting spot. Hope to see you in the future, Eric (the owner)

My family and I spent a night here during a quick visit to Cooperstown. The room was clean & comfortable, the rate was excellent, and Eric was very accommodating. The location of the Gateway Inn is perfect! It sits right between the Ommegang Brewery and the Baseball Hall of Fame. We will definitely stay here again next time we pass through Cooperstown.

Lovely place - very peaceful and pleasant, and very courteous staff - thoughtful touches. Thank you so much for being dog friendly - it's hard to find nice convenient places that accept pets and have such wonderful grounds for them to play on - especially our very well behaved and lovable Lhasa Apso - she had a blast as we all did. Would love to come back again soon! The only problem was the living room bed in the suite - the curtains let all the light in and the pullout was not that comfy.

Room Tip: Per above, watch out for the living room beds in the suites - unless the hotel can fix that issue fo...

My brother and I were in town to visit a friend working at Glimmerglass Opera Festival. She found us this great place to stay. The owners were friendly and helpful with suggesting area restaurants, and pointed out which had the best views/food/prices. Also, when we arrived they had us each select a free watercolor print, as one of the owners is a watercolor artist. We each received a print of a beautiful watercolor of one of the City attractions. The pool was great as well, since we stayed during one of the hottest months of the year (August), and with the drought going on then, it was so nice to relax there. Driving into town was a piece of cake, and only took 5-7 minutes on any given day. I'd stay again as the rooms were clean, neat and we appreciated the fridge, microwave and maid service daily. Recommended!

We visited Cooperstown last week for our son's tournament at the Dream Park. We stayed in the Babe's Nook which was just the right size for two people. The innkeeper was extremely friendly and helpful. His dinner recommendations were excellent. Nestled slightly off the beaten path, the location was perfect for our needs and close enough to downtown Cooperstown. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly.

Just got back from a Cooperstown Vacation where we had a great time and the Gateway Inn was a big part of it. Our suite was comfortable and well appointed and there were plenty of outdoor activities for the kids! It was nice to be able to escape the bustle of town and return to our little hide-a-way. The Gateway might be Cooperstown’s best kept secret!

We were fortunate to get a room at Gateway for a Thursday-Sunday stay in the summer season. We stayed in the two bedroom Commissioners Suite. The suite is well decorated and has a B and B feel to it. It is attached to the motel's office on one side and does not have any above you or on the other side. Equipped with a small kitchen, living room and a total of three flat screen TV's it is liked your only little home. You even have your own front yard with grill picnic bench and gazebo. A small swimming pool is acoss the way-bring your own towels-
We loved the country location, it is about two miles from everywhere. You might want to arrive during the day on your first visit as it could be a bit tricky to find for the directionally challenged-like myself. There is a back road to Cooperstown, which got us there in just a few minutes.
Eric, the owner operator greeted us at check in and was exteremely helpful during our entire stay. I learned a lot about the history of Cooperstown and baseball during from Eric. We left in a hurry in order to beat the traffic home and left a precious stuffed animal in the room. A week later it arrived back at our home. I have lost countless items at chain hotels
and never got them back. Somteimes it pays to do business with people who appreciate your business.
