Our family was staying at the Otesaga as part of a trip to the Dreams Field baseball tournament. Ages ran from 8 to 80. Although I am not normally a fan of hotel dinning rooms (last good one I had been in was the Green Room at Hotel DuPont) we decided to dine in the Hawkeye to take advantage of the spectacular view. On the first night of our visit a large storm forced us inside rather than the patio but the room was pleasant enough (it is really a tavern set up - if you want fancy you should try the main dinning room). The service was punctual without being down our throats and very pleasant. In all, it was well paced service. The food was enjoyed by all eight of the party - the choices included selections from the fish entrees, meat and two lobster risotto (which was fantastic). All of the dinners came with a small salad.
As to value, I found the prices to be reasonable when compared to similar venues. I find too often that reviewers are comparing the cost of a meal to that which they pay at their local pizza place - its not the same.
As a compliment to the restaurant, we returned the following evening for dinner, this time the weather cooperated and we enjoyed dinning on the terrace

We dined later in the evening-after 8:00 p.m. so we thought we would miss the crowds. Friendly staff. Unfortunately the service was slow and the food while good was not hot and we waited a good while to get it. We were told the outside dining area had no availability but there were open tables the entire time we were there.

Had lunch here twice. The burgers are at least 10 oz patties. Great flavor. They also have a gluten free bun if needed. The hotel is beautiful and a must see. Completed in 1909 and is well maintained.

We ate outside. Staff was accommodating if a bit unorganized. Long waits between courses and the food was so, so.

The bar and grille was great. Good drink selections, wide array of items on the menu, decent service. I thought this downstairs restaurant was much better than the formal dining room upstairs. Less stuffy, wider menu, and quite frankly, the food was much better.
