“Absolutely Loved This Place”

My husband and I stayed here for two nights of our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! The setting was beautiful. The hosts were very kind and personable. Breakfast tasted great. And it's only about a 10 minute drive from the Baseball Hall of Fame. We would go back in a heartbeat!

The Diastole Inn was extremely comfortable. It is located a couple of miles northeast of the crowded streets of Cooperstown. We had the Master bedroom, which was decorated in antiques, including an Amish handmade rocker. There is a jacuzzi bath in this bedroom. We enjoyed the hot tub on the deck. The view of Lake Ostego was amazing. Brigette and Lou were wonderful, organized hosts. For instance, in the antique desk was an assortment of brochures and menus from local restaurants. Brigette even offered to make reservations. We wished we had stayed another night.

We stayed in October during the playoffs. You could not ask for a better place to go and relax after spending all day in Cooperstown. Just minutes from town, but it seems like you are miles away from the hustle of the town. The Woodside room was beautiful and well furnished. The deck was a perfect place to sit and relax with a cup of a coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. Brigitte was a wonderful host and made our stay quite enjoyable.

What a find in the breathtaking mountains of Cooperstown! Diastole is roomy, airy, and full of charm and calm. The rooms are appointed with exquisite furnishings and are so comfy! Brigitte and Lou make your stay complete. They are so knowledgeable and helpful in planning your visit, but respect your privacy. Their B&B allows complete indulgence. The experience lives up to the name....calming to the heart! The view from the back deck and hot tub area is prime National Geographic Photo...gorgeous! Cooperstown and surrounding sites are easily accessible. My only regret is we couldn't stay longer. We will definitely go back!

Owner threw a noisy, 3-hour party for friends while we were there. Breakfast was self serve. Best option was cold cereal. Hospitality left a lot to be desired.

We have just returned from four days in Cooperstown, New York where we stayed at the Diastole Bed & Breakfast. The Innkeeper made us feel so welcome we would have liked to stay much longer in this beautiful spot. The B&B is located less than three miles outside of town, up the side of the mountain overlooking Lake Otsego. Our room (the garden room) was large and had a breathtaking view of the lake and the hills beyond out french doors that opened onto a small balcony. Our private bathroom was in the hall just next to our room, but we didn't feel any lack of privacy since we were at the far end of the house and the bathroom door when opened, screened our room door, so you didn't have to worry about slipping into the bathroom at night and passing other guests. The innkeeper showed us most of the other rooms (I think there are five in all) with similarly great views and some with in-room bathrooms.

Breakfast was served in a glassed-in room also overlooking the lake. My husband and I usually stay in historic B&B's but we didn't miss the old-house ambience at all. The place felt like a rustic mountain lodge with the log furnishings and adirondack -type motifs. But perhaps the best part, which I saved for last, was coming back from exploring the town and countryside each day to the large hottub on the back deck and watching the sun go down over the lake and mountains while we soaked. We were there in October, so the leaves were brilliant and it was just cold enough to make the hot tub feel like the ultimate luxury. Though it is open to all guests, we just happened to have the hot tub to ourselves on both nights.

Cooperstown is a great little town, even if you aren't a big baseball fan. While my husband did the hall of fame, I wandered into the non-baseball oriented shops and enjoyed the residential areas which are full of gorgeous old houses. We loved the whole trip, but found the Diastole to be a real highlight!!
