“Perfect place to get away!”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

My husband and I stayed at Diastole for 5 nights in October and it was the getaway we were long overdue for! Brigitte and Lou are two of the most welcoming people we have ever met! By the time we left, we felt like we had known them much longer than a few days. Brigitte has created the perfect environment of coziness, relaxation and friendliness. Breakfast each morning was spent in easy conversation with the other guests and/or Brigitte while we enjoyed the gorgeous view of the lake and surrounding woods. The room (we stayed in the Master) was perfect with the jacuzzi bathtub and deck. We were never at a loss for activities and actually did not have time to do everything we wanted! The Baseball Hall of Fame was, of course, seen as was Ommegang Brewery (well worth the tour and tasting!), the Farm Museum on a night time lantern tour complete with ghost stories for Halloween and the Northeast Classic Car Museum (so well worth the drive!). Restaurants in town are abundant but Nicoletta's as well as Alex and Ika's quickly became favorites. Stagecoach Coffee shop also became a regular stop. We definitely got the relaxation we needed and can't wait to return!

Room Tip: The Master runs a little on the warm side but was not uncomfortably so. The views from the upstairs...

The best way to describe this B&B is TOP SHELF! My partner and I went to see the Baseball Hall of Fame and opted to stay in a B&B rather than a hotel. We were very happy with the decision. The Diastole B&B was so peaceful, from the moment we pulled into the place we felt immediately at ease and relaxed. We were greeted by Lou who had a fire already going in the living room. We stayed in the Woodside Suite, it was huge, comfortable and extremely clean. The room was located on the second floor and had french doors which led out to an huge deck overlooking Lake Ostego. Brigette and Lou were excellent hosts, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We highly recommend this B&B, you won't be disappointed. Can't wait to go back!!!

I recently retired and was given a weekend stay at the Diastole B&B along with passes to the baseball hall of fame as part of my retirement gift. As we drove into the Cooperstown area I was in awe of the spectacular scenery, the B&B sits on approximately 20 acres about 7 miles from downtown Cooperstown. There are five bedrooms and we slept upstairs in the Adirondack room, a beautifully furnished room with a most comfortable bed and French doors that open to a deck that looks upon Lake Ostego. Our hosts Brigitte and Lou were both welcoming and eager to answer any and all questions about local attractions and restaurants. Brigitte prepared breakfast each morning (delicious) and we ate in the very confortable dining room with a magnificant view of the lake. We will always remember our wonderful trip to Cooperstown (Baseball Hall of Fame was great) and our most relaxing and enjoyable stay at Diastole.

We were in town for a wedding and were directed to this B & B. It's in a beautiful location overlooking Lake Otsego. We were in the Master Bedroom that was beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. There's a deck behind almost all the rooms. Our bathroom was ensuite. There were four options for breakfast (selected off a menu the previous evening); the fresh fruit cup was genuinely fresh. The hosts are very genial and helpful. Only two things kept this from being a five--the hot water in the bathroom sink was only a dribble (a note said the plumber had been called) and the heat in the room was regulate as the days were fairly warm but the gas fireplaces had already been started and the pilot light provided more heat than necessary. We opened a window and got along. A great place if you want to get away.

We chose Diastole for our Glimmerglass Opera weekend mainly because of the lake view and the thoughtful and accurate way that the rooms were described on their website. To our delight, the hardworking innkeepers Brigitte and Lou were also friendly and accomodating. Plus they prepare a great communal breakfast. Now we're thinking of excuses to return.

Room Tip: There is a spa on the first floor deck-don't forget your bathing suit. While visiting Cooperstow...

This is a very special place. Nestled up in the hills above Lake Otsega and only 10 minutes outside of the hustle and bustle of Cooperstown... this is a great B+B. The house feels like it was just built -- almost brand new. Beautiful adirondack style furnishings. The view from our private suite was spectacular. The balcony's all look out onto the lake. The setting is quiet and peaceful. We had a beautiful sunset and great stars to see sitting out on our deck. I read a book all afternoon while my family watched baseball in town. I wish I could have stayed a week. Bridget is a great hostess. Delicious breakfast. I loved her homemade granola. I wish I could have stayed a week. Not really the place to go w/ small children.

Opted to stay here in place of hotel ..... best choice. The location was beautiful and relaxing. The room was immaculate. We travel frequently and cleanliness ranks high on our list of importance in a room. Loved that there were hardwood floors. Could not beat the view from the deck off our room. Bridget was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the Cooperstown area.
