Had Hawaiian pizza. It was very good, the place it self is not all that, old looking but it is very popular. There is a lot of people in summer due to Cooperstown dreams park baseball tournament.

It was our first time eating at this restaurant. Food is ok. Service was ok. Not fancy at all but was ok for a quick stop.

Reading the other reviews of Sal's I'm wondering if we hit them on an off day, but our food was pretty awful when we visited over Memorial Day weekend for a quick lunch. I do give the place credit for being conveniently located (they're about a block away and an easy walk from the Baseball Hall of Fame) and for being reasonably priced, and for friendly service, but the praise ends there. My husband ordered a calzone, which as it turns out was "premade" and then warmed up in the microwave. Not good! I ordered 2 different slices of pizza, and they were both bland and greasy. Really nasty after-taste. My son enjoyed his chicken tenders, and my daughter said that 1 of her 2 pizza slices was really good, so all told they were "Batting .500" -- that's phenomenal in baseball, but for food quality not so much. Atmosphere wise it's a basic pizza joint (not a problem), but they had a TV blaring some "Headline News" station which unfortunately was busy discussing cockroaches and crimes. Not the best background for your dining pleasure... We won't be going back.

(That said, our dinner at the Lake Front Inn was considerably better, we would return there if we ever go back to Cooperstown... I'll post another review with those details.)

Sal's is Cooperstown's iconic pizza joint. Not only do they make good pies, their Italian dinners and sides are also quite tasty. Take out orders are given immediate attention and always satisfy. The restaurant itself consists of booths; nothing fancy but there is a TV and jukebox. Outdoor dining is available in the summer months via the back deck. There is no table service; it's do-it-yourself once your order is cooked. Sal and his cohorts know good Italian food. If you're looking for a tasty slice or dinner, only two blocks from the Baseball Hall of Fame, this is the place.

Pizza is good, beer is cold and service is decent. Good place for a quick meal or a late night snack. Conveniently located on the main street close to the middle of town.
