We booked a room for several nights, expecting to enjoy a view of the lake on the lovely grand porch. Unfortunately, management booked (overbooked) the hotel with a convention of Saving & Loan Executives. Management constructed three very large tents between the lake and the grand porch. NO VIEW. Non at all. Next management took All the rockers (40+) and moved them to an area soley for the S&L Executives. All the restaurants and bars were full of noisey conventioneers. Even the lobby was full of sign-up booths.

I wrote to management and the manager responded that he had to give priority to the convention. Full paying guest like us were second class citizens. He also said it was not his job to tell guest before arrival that the amenities of the hotel would not be available.

Very Poor Management. Do not book a room at hotel. Stay elsewhere in Cooperstown and drive over to hotel. If you can see the lake, find a rocker, stay for a drink and leave.

Stayed here on business recently. This is an old classic resort that is certainly showing some of that age now. A little dinginess is some corners--but not too bad. Construction on the front entrance was in process during our stay--had to enter from the lower grill entrance, which took some of the initial arrival "charm" away.

Excellent, old resort with suberb service and cuisine. Because everyone is trying so hard and succeeding with service and food and other hospitality items like rocking chairs facing the lake, tea service in the lobby in the afternoons, etc., I stop noticing that the property is really in need of some updating. It is the best and only first class property within Cooperstown, and if that is your destination, the Otesaga is the best place to stay. Breakfasts are simpy great--all the food was, in fact. Golf course looked fantastic, though I did not get a chance to play.

The Otesaga is a beautiful, first-class property. Staff is on top of their game . Devoted to making your stay a success. We had a great visit.
Facilities are first rate. Setting is beautiful. We traveled through the Finger Lakes area and this was our top stay.
Restaurants were very good as well as reasonable value.
Golf course looks great-be sure and bring your clubs. Looking forward to another visit.

From the outside, the Otesaga Resort will take your breath away. In our room, we had to gasp. The water in the tub would not go down adequately during a shower and you wound up ankle deep in soapy water. There was a fridge in the room that froze everything... no setting seemed to change the temperature, and the stand they put it on was right out of the trash (or maybe it really was an antique that hadn't been cleaned in 100 years). The lighting was dim, and that's an understatement. Four forty watt bulbs for the room, except for the overhead which was so harsh you couldn't keep it on. Two small light fixtures in a large bathroom... leaving the tub/shower virtually in the dark. They "stuck" a TV on the bedroom dresser as an afterthought taking up more than half of the dresser top and the wall mirror behind it... truly tacky. And you surely didn't need a nightlight, because the space around the door to the room let enough hallway light in the room at night to see well... as well as sound! They put a magnifying mirror in the bathroom about 4 feet from the sink and right over the toilet... now, who could use that? And finally, the carpet was dirty. We were afraid to walk in the room without shoes on. And for all this luxury, we paid a premium price!
However, the dining was excellent, and most of the staff were polite and helpful. If you just eat there and look at the outside, it's terrific. But don't stay there.

Hotel is beautiful but VERY overpriced. One of only two hotels in town (both owned by same company). Rest are 50s motels and B&Bs. Lovely golf course. Adequate and expensive food. Updated rooms. Wonderful verandah overlooking exquisite grounds. Dining room is quite elegant too -- old world and beautiful.
