Not caring for "winging it", I make reservations in advance. That's how popular Bayside Inn & Marina is. For good reason: 1. Clean rooms; 2. Game room; 3. Attractive and comfortable sitting room; 4. Exercise room; 5. Lakeside property; 6. Handicapped-accessible rooms; 7. Porch for clients' outside relaxing; 8. I Hot coffee all day, in lobby; 9. Friendly & engaged staff. They remember us from year to year. No disengaged, faux-friendliness here! I have trouble remembering that they are at work, not visiting with me.

Great place for people of all ages and capabilities.

Room Tip: All the rooms we have stayed in are just fine.

Thank you for your kind words and the great review of your stay and our property and staff. We always enjoy getting to know our guests and it's hard not to become close to some of them. This guest and her husband is no exception! We love when those special people come into our lives and become part of the "Bayside Family".

We looked forward to seeing you this season and look forward to seeing you for many seasons to come!

My 4 year old and I stayed at Bayside Inn while my older one played at Cooperstown. The motel is definitely much nicer than it shows on the computer. It's quite quaint and has all the amenities you could want for a stay such as this...one that is NOT heavily hotel-based. We had parking outside our door, the room was very clean, the bathroom was updated, and the fridge was ample. There were cable tv channels to occupy the little one, and a beautiful lake view off our private balcony for me to enjoy. There was a great outdoor dining area overlooking the lake as well...overall, the stay was better than I expected. The phone service is awful, but that is stated on the website. They offer free wifi that does work, and will allow you to make calls from the office if your carrier is AT&T. The inn is located very close to Glimmerglass, and about 10 miles from Dreams Park, but it's a pretty straight shot - just one right turn. I felt safe staying alone with my little one, and that was really my primary concern. I wish I had more time to check out the area and take advantage of the lake.

Room Tip: Stayed in Room 2 - request 2nd floor if you want a balcony/view, 1st if you require a microwave.

Thank you Loria1070, I appreciate you taking the time to review your stay. We try to provide as many conveniences as possible and appreciate your acknowledgement. All of the staff does their best to make our guests feel at home and safe. Unfortunately, Verizon is the only cell coverage on the lake but because of that we provide free phone calls within the US and Canada from all room and cottage phones. We also have several Wi-Fi hot spots throughout the property to allow our guests easy access to their email, Facebook, etc.

We hope to see you and your family again in the future when you have more time to explore the area and the lake.

The hotel is about 10 minutes from Main St. in Cooperstown (everything in Cooperstown is on Main St.). The Yellow Cooperstown trolley stop (parking lot) is about 5 minutes away from the hotel. I had a lake view room (not a cottage). The room was spacious although it could use a little more lighting. The lighting in the bathroom was yellow--so it wasn't the brightest. The bed was very firm and there were no outlets near the night stand so we had to charge electronics across the room where the outlets were. The windows of the room open so it was nice to have the option for fresh air in the room rather than using air conditioning. The air conditioning works fine though.

The walk from the room to the lake/beach is slightly steep. There's a set of steps or you can take the road down (the road loops around the cottages, it's very quiet and safe). The beach is very small and the docks are private so you can't walk out on them. There are two gazebos on the beach that have picnic tables and there a few beach chairs in the sand. There is a port-a-potty near the beach.

Off of the check out area, there is a lounging area that includes a microwave, sofa, tables, etc. and board games and puzzles. Outside of this room is a deck that has tables and chairs and overlooks the lake.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.

My wife and I stayed here for two days while visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. We normally stay in five star hotels, but decided to take a chance on this hotel based on Tripadvisor reviews. We could not have been more satisfied with our choice. As you drive into the Inn you notice how clean and well maintained the property is. The service at the front desk was excellent. Our room was very clean and well appointed, with a nice coffee maker, good size flat screen TV and Time Warner cable with loads of channels. Unfortunately, the mattresses were not very comfortable and harder than I like. The bathroom looked to have been remodelled and was very clean. My only problem with the bathroom was the exposed light fixture above the shower. The room had a balcony which overlooked the other cottages and had a good view of the lake and surrounding mountains. There is a small beach and swimming area available to hotel guests. We didn't experience any issues with noise and had a wonderful two nights at the Inn.

Thank you for taking time to review your stay and our property. Everyone on our staff takes pride in their job and works hard to keep our property in tip top shape. All of our rooms have recently been freshly painted and been updated with new bedspreads, drapes and flat screen TV's. I'm sorry about the light in the shower. The recessed light fixture in the room that you rented had just been replaced and our electrician broke the lens that covers the light bulb. We had to order a new lens and it has since been replaced.

Our front desk staff enjoys getting to know as many of our guests as possible and loves the chat as long as the guests are willing. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you the next time you visit the area.

Was in town for a wedding and really only needed to find a place to sleep at night. Bayside fit the bill, very much a no frills place, at least in my accommodations (second floor, room with view/no balcony). Bed was comfortable, air conditioner functional, TV had a fair range of choices in terms of channels, staff I dealt with was friendly. Free wifi, which worked fine when I needed it. Word to folks who "need" their cell phones....there is basically no reception in this area. You usually needed to be a few miles down into Cooperstown or further out towards Rt. 20 to get some kind of reception.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I hope that you enjoyed the wedding and am happy to hear that you found the room comfortable.

The room that you rented was located in our Inn. All of the Inn rooms have been freshly painted and have new bedspreads, drapes and 32" flat screen TV's with HBO. Bayside also has 4 different WiFi hotspots throughout the property. Unfortunately, Verizon is the only cell service that works on the lake. Because of this potential inconvenience to our guests, all calls throughout the US and Canada are free from all of the room and cottage phones. Bayside is situated on 4 acres on Otsego Lake and has several types of rooms and cottages of varying sizes and prices. There is something here for everyone.

We stayed for one week at the Bayside Inn & Marina while my son played in a baseball tournament in town. While the grounds and rooms were fine, we felt a bit misled by the rules. The rules were odd to say the least. We were told that we were not allowed to use the dock or dock a rented boat on the shore if we had a boy staying at Dreams Park where my son was staying? Seriously? The beach was small and the kids were not allowed to play on docks or fish off docks or stand on docks. The property next door was generous enough to let us use their dock so our kids could at least play in the water. I understand if the owners have had past bad experiences with baseball families and would rather cater to a different crowd, but you can't have it both ways. We were never informed of these rules before booking and we asked outright. They seemed very disinterested in resolving these issues which we CALMLY discussed. They also seemed extremely disinterested in whether or not we were enjoying our stay or in securing a return visit. Mission accomplished. We will be back in two years for another tournament and will stay anyplace but here.
Bottom line...if you're a baseball family, this is not the place to stay. They made that perfectly clear after we paid the bill.

JenniferLarson2013 was a guest of Bayside and a member of the same team of the previous review from S.B. on 8/15. At the risk of repeating myself: Bayside Inn & Marina DOES welcome Dreamspark Families but we will not accept being treated with disrespect during the full week stay. Two people from this group took turns screaming at one of my employees because they couldn't fish off of our docks, it was far from a calm discussion. In addition, others from the group were rude and ill-tempered throughout the whole week. Neither the staff or the website of Bayside Inn is misleading, the first policy on the "Policies" page of our website clearly states the Facilities policy which reads "The facilities at Bayside are for the exclusive use of registered Bayside guests only. Children lodged at the Cooperstown Dreams Park or people staying elsewhere are not guests of this establishment and should not be using our beach, boats, picnic tables, bbq areas, etc. Because this activity would inconvenience our registered guests, those individuals who are not Bayside guests will be asked to leave the premises". Also, any guest that calls and asks about renting a dock space is asked if they are visiting for the Dreams Park and then are informed that Bayside does not rent boat slips to families visiting for that purpose. Similarly, If a guest makes a reservation through our online reservation system the Boat Slip add-on option under the "Additional Items" section reads "Boat Slips are available for boats 23' and smaller at a rate of $25 per day but are NOT available to Dreams Park Guests". This group ignored our policies by renting a boat, inviting several people that were not guests of Bayside, allowing children to run around on the docks unattended and they misinformed the owner of the rented boat about our policies by telling him that we had 1 slip available for their rented boat. Bayside does have that policy because our docks are private docks for boat owners' only. We do not allow fishing off of our docks because we do not want accidental damage to any of the boats by fishing hooks. Also, because our docks are floating docks and can be dangerous when it is windy, the lake is rough, or in inclement weather, we only allow boat owners' use of the docks. We have had damage to our boatowners' property in the past and cannot take a risk of any further damage or accidents to any property or persons on our docks. No one from this group asked any questions about dock space before their arrival. Also, the property next door did NOT allow the use of their docks and were extremely upset when they invaded their property without permission.

In conclusion, Bayside DOES welcome Dreamspark families but WILL NOT tolerate rude, obnoxious, and disrespectful people with no concern for our safety policies.

These cottages are well maintained, clean and pleasant. Several have lovely decks overlooking the lake. They are only 5 minutes from Glimmerglass. An added benefit is the free use of canoes and kayaks on the lake and a small beach for kids to splash in the water.

We stayed in a cottage advertised as 3 bedroom. The problem is that one of the downstairs brs had no windows and no ventilation. Fortunately, it was cool when we were there but, if it had been hot, we would have roasted. The only bathroom is upstairs so you have to be prepared for a kong hike if you need to sue the facilities in the middle of the night.

Room Tip: Check to see if the bedrooms have windows.

Thank you drcatherine2013 for recognizing our hard work maintaining our Cottages and facilities. Bayside is only 1 mile from Glimmerglass Festival (Opera) making our location on Otsego Lake quite convenient. Our canoes and kayaks are a great way to explore the lake and are available, free of charge, to all guests.

All of our Cottages are unique and this particular Cottage, Cottage L, is no exception. Cottage L has 3 bedrooms, each with a double bed. One bedroom is located on the main level along with the living room, dining area, kitchen and bathroom. The other 2 bedrooms are located on the lower level along with the deck with an unobstructed lake view. There is an AC in the living room and another at the lower level which does cool both bedrooms. The layout of Cottage L can be inconvenient for some people but it's quirkiness gives it its charm and the view of the lake is unbeatable.

Our staff is available to answer any questions and give a detailed description of any of our accommodations, just give us a call or send an email and we will be happy to help.
