“Gem of a park on the north shore of Otsego Lake!”
Reviewed August 1, 2014

We spent an afternoon exploring this gem of a state park while visiting the Cooperstown area. There is something for everyone here - some impressive history for the history buffs, nice trails for the nature lovers, up to date playgrounds for the kids, primitive camping sites for the outdoorsy types, lots of picnic tables and clean up to date bathroom facilities for families and a clean well groomed beach for the swimmers and sun worshipers. The park is not huge so it's easy to hike around and see everything in an hour or so. We enjoyed the oldest covered bridge in New York State and part of the Hyde Hall complex of buildings in the park. We even surprised a couple of young deer grazing in a field just below Hyde Hall and we were able to get several photos. If you are vacationing in the Cooperstown area Glimmerglass is a great place to spend all or part of the day!

“Beautiful Park and Lake”
Reviewed July 21, 2014

We spent a half day at the lake in Glimmerglass State Park and had an amazing time. We barbecued on the lawn, where there was a ton of room for families to sit and eat, as well as play around. The park has a concession stand and beach area, which is really nice, and the bathrooms were very clean throughout the day. This is definitely a great place to go for the day when staying around Cooperstown!

“Beautiful!!”
Reviewed July 17, 2014

Went here for an afternoon on our last day in the area. I am glad that I did, It was a sight to see. Weather wasn't very agreeable, but the kids had fun playing around. You will need to bring charcoal if you want to cook out. Grill aren't very big but no big deal for us. You can't get any more beautiful.

“Great during the week, when the park is quiet”
Reviewed July 9, 2014

Views to die for!!! Sandy beach, great life guards, to watch to the unruly....Quiet, trees, wonderful water...Superb setting to sit and contemplate life. The week-ends get busy, but the crowds are usually polite and quiet. There are places to grill, although there is a cafe there. One can shower as well.

“Beautiful park”
Reviewed July 1, 2014

A truly beautiful park. We did a bit of online reasearch for the best beach as my daughter wanted to play on the sand. I am so glad we picked this park. It was really clean and the views were beautiful. They have the lake divided into sections and only had one section open. There were people there but it did not feel crowded. There was a birthday party going on and I have to say this would be a beautiful location. The facilities were nice. Be forewarned the snack shop only takes cash. It was $7.00 to get in and worth every penny. My only regret is that we only made it there one time.
