Subic Bay Yacht Club
Reviewed February 24, 2014

We stayed here in an executive room for 2 nights with our 2 young kids. I had read the reviews so it was pretty much as i expected, a bit old and run down with stained carpets and wallpaper. I wouldn't spend the normal price they quote for a room, but we had a half price deal. The room was spacious with a great balcony overlooking the pool. It has a huge bathroom with a great big hot tub which did work despite some of the controls being broken. The best part was the pools, sandy area and playground. The two smallest kids pools were not so clean but we stayed in the biggest pool which was shallow enough for kids. The service was good and everyone was friendly, we were one of only a few guests so we always had quick service. The breakfast that came with the room did not include the American, which we would normally choose, but the omelet we had instead was very good. On the first day there was some confusion over the coupons they give you for swimming. They only gave us 4 for a 3 day stay and wanted to take all 4 the first time we swam. But when we spoke to the lady in reception she quickly assured us it would be fine to swim and they didn't ask for more coupons after that. Location is great, just 2 minutes from Puregold and other shops and 5-10 minutes to nicer restaurants. Overall it was a great stay and we will probably go back if we can find the same deal.

Room Tip: We liked the pool view room we had.

Visit was my first time to stay in Subic.

The hotel is still elegant on its own way - its location, the grand entrance, carpeted floors, spacious bathroom and bedroom, the pools and the view of the boats docked in the jetty.

Service: We arrived late and check-in is hassle-free. We were given the room keys and we are on our own, nobody assisted us to the room. The attendants made up our room without us requesting it, and that's a plus. The F&B service is average but I can see the staff are trying to give best service. The head waiter when we had our breakfast was over-friendly, which is sometimes annoying.

Room: Aside from some old furnishing, everything is great. Our room has a view of the dock, and it's mind-blowing to stay there in the veranda in the sunrise and in the sunset. Aircon is okay. TV is old and cable reception is not clear though. Very limited number of power outlets (in this generation we need more for the gadgets). Bath is large and luxurious. Shower pressure is the best (although, very eco-unfriendly because of water flow!). The water heater did not fail us.

F&B: We only have our breakfast(s). Serving is big. Coffee is good, too.

Others: Parking is not a problem - very secured.

Room Tip: Get the Marina View. :)

The hotel staff are friendly and approachable. Maps that shows tourist spots and restaurants are available at the reception.

I love the food served on dinner (especially those grilled sausages served during Sundays) and breakfast (Filipino & American breakfast). The food servings are big except for the beverages (coffee, juice and hot chocolate).

Rooms are ok, loved the jacuzzi. Even the showwerd are great, you have 1 on top, and 1 each left and right. It feels like you're getting free masage whether in the shower or in the tub. Food during our activity was great. Breakfast i think has to be improved, you have to be specific with what you want. The dockyard is great, makes you feel rich! Best loc is the very wide swimming pool. It's like swimming with nature...

This hotel has a marina dock. From the rooms you will see the parked yachts. Very beautiful view. The rooms are equipped with its own jacuzzi . Although it has not been upgraded and facilities are a bit old and run down, the place still is beautiful. The food is also good and reasonable.

Room Tip: Get a marina view when you book

Stayed at the Yacht Club in a recent vacation to the Philippines and I was so sad to see how bad the place has gotten. I used to stay here quite frequently years ago when it was new, and I just couldn't believe how badly maintained it is. Carpets are worn down, elevators weren't working, the shingles and roofs were falling apart. The room wasn't very clean and there was hardly any water pressure in the bathroom. The pool was supposed to open at 7am and when I left at 7:30am there was still no attendant in site! I remember this place being nice and clean and enjoyable that is why I wanted to go again on this trip, but you can tell how badly managed this place has been in the last 6 years.
