Our family of five checked into their "deluxe villa" on August 30, 2012 for a one-night stay. I wonder if the owner(s) were being facetious or in total denial when they labeled this former U.S. Navy home a "villa," and added insult to injury with the "deluxe" tag. The house is old, but that's not really the problem. There was no running hot water; the bedsheets were thin and had seen better days, the blankets smelled like they had been buried in a crypt and resurrected for use of the guests, and some of the curtains were torn. The kitchen's very rusty electric stove looked like a hold-over from the days when the American Navy still controlled Subic Bay. The patio's surrounding area was an eye-sore with empty plastic bottles and other small debris littering the back yard.

This "villa" is advertised as "refurbished" but it didn't look like anything of the sort. It is obvious that it had minimum upkeep. On the bright side, the TV was a later model LCD type and worked well.

The normal peak season rate for this unit is PHP 6,700. We got a 30% discount non-peak weekday rate of PHP 4690, and even at this rate our group felt the unit was overpriced. In its condition, a fairer price would be a 50% permanent discount from the regular PHP 6,700 rate.

If you want spacious accommodation for a large group where the rental cost can be split and you're not too fussy, then I won't hesitate to recommend Forest View, but don't expect much in the way of amenities.

A good place to stay for the family if you are planning to take around Subic for the day and will just actually sleep in the villa, there's nothing much to do there, pool is relatively small and basically plain. The staffs are quite friendly & accomodating, hooray! :)
We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa which cost us 6300++ for an over night stay. It has 2 bathroom, dining area, fully equipped kitchen and roomy receiving area. Each room has television & cable, I think wifi is also available but since our villa is located a few blocks from the reception area, we didn't bother to go back & ask for password. .& yes no in-house telephone from villas to reception area so ask everything you need upon check in to avoid any inconvenience.
They are not particularly strict on number of guest to stay so no additional cost, hooray again :)

I was expecting the worst when we went to Subic last week based on the reviews I read.

We left Manila around 6am and arrived around 11am (breakfast at NLEX for an hour). We had lunch first before checking in. The 3-bedroom villa is old but clean and spacious. 2 adults can fit in each room. There is a space in the master bedroom for an extra bed and you can also place beds in the living area. We brought mattresses (thin that you can fold or roll) and inflatable beds.

We were out the whole time so the villa was just used for sleeping. If you are in a tight budget, you can use the kitchen for cooking your meals. The groceries are just a 10 minutes away from the villa.

I don't remember seeing any toiletries in the bathroom. They provide 6 bath towels but are super thin. The towels are soaking wet after one use. They do not have bathroom rugs so be very careful coz the floors are slippery after each use. The bathroom windows have no curtains.

The communal pool is small. There are no kiddie pool. You have to bring floaters for the kids to use the big pool.

Overall, Forest View is a decent place to stay. 8900 for a 3-bedroom suite is reasonable especially for big groups. But if you are looking for a 5-star accommodation, this is definitely not for you.

With a 10k reservation in this apartment, my family is so excited to spend holyweek in Subic for some R and R out from the noise and city jam. Heading towards Subic last holyweek was already a nightmare due to traffic jam and upon our arrival past 2pm, I hurriedly informed the receptionist if we could already check in while waiting for the other party to arrive. The uniformed manager demanded to fully pay (16700) first before we can move in while assuring us that our unit is clean and tidy upon my ardent request that we need a comfortable unit for the kids and infant. Here comes another nightmare! once the door was opened, a foul smell, garrison like old house welcomed our party. Rushed back to the reception for an immediate replacement but the mgr declined and argued that all units were taken so we need to take the agony of staying in this 8K++/night monkey house playing hide and seek with the mosquitoes flying all around the corners. Checked the room pics and the other parts of this jungle house and I will dare you to stay. Good thing I have insect repellant for my baby as the chemical they sprayed put more harm to the blood seeking mosquitoes in the house. (Additional cost for vaccination in manila). SEE THE PICS............Dining chair was damaged, aircon location was improvised and noisy, flooring was stained with dried monkey leaks, shower is terrible, lights are busted, bed was shaking and noisy, no doors and hanging rods for the dresser, printed reminders are poorly pasted by a monkey, cooking utensils were untidy and rusty, windows are dirty and a lot more which really pissed us plus the dirty and overcrowded pool. Imagine paying P50 for towel replenishment? Yes, we are even charged without any consideration to the worst accomodation experienced ever. No regular pick up of rubbish as the trash we left in the morning is still the same f)(&>?g garbage when we arrived after a days trip from safari. POOREST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! REALLY AN ACOMMODATION FIT FOR THE MONKEY CROSSING THE STREET! See the pics and I will dare you to stay in this jungle house! Sell this to the US marine for renovation!

Room Tip: Ask for the complimentary mangoes as they will not even bother to give you instantly until you ask...

This is the second time that I stayed in Forest View. The first time I stayed in this little secret of Subic was five years ago.

On this family trip, we were a party of ten. It was a challenge to find spacious and comfortable accommodation, considering our number and that we were travelling during the Holy Week. Our main plan was to go Potipot island in Zambales for a day. It was about two hours leisurely drive to the town of Candelaria, the crossing point to Potipot island. After reviewing the resorts near the island and having doubts about the price and accommodations, I decided that it was better to stay in Subic. It turned out to be a very good decision. We had the duty-free shops nearby to shop for our needs, other activities and attractions offered by Subic are just a few minutes away, nightlife of Subic or Olongapo are nearby and the beaches are an hour to a few hours’ drive.

This place is worth every penny you pay for! It's in a quiet and forest-like setting or like being in a small suburbia housing/subdivision. The bungalows are clean, spacious and comfortable. The surroundings are clean and the staff are helpful and friendly.
Travel tip: Must have your own car.

The experience will differ on which villa you get. Some of the villas have been renovated and refurbished. Some obviously have not been. The same goes with the appliances. For the price, I say don't look for five star or four star amenities.

The pool is a kiddie pool and quite small. Obviously was not meant for hotel or resort. During peack season, the pool can easily get overcrowded and dirty due to its designed capacity.

I booked 3 weeks prior to check-in via agoda. As it was my first time to book via agoda, I just felt like calling the day before our check-in to confirm. It was a good thing I did this cuz they didn't have a record of my booking. But they did call me back 10 minutes later to properly confirm & even upgraded us to a Deluxe "Villa".

Pros: Fast check-in, Got the "villa" cheap via agoda (6k for a night), the area is in the middle of Subic shopping area and Ocean Adventure/Zoobic. Meaning it's a good 30 minutes away between the two. Seems far but this is Subic. I felt it was better option though than checking in the shopping area then going back & forth to the Ocean Adventure/Zoobic area.
Also the house is good enough for 10 adults ( 2 families, 2 yayas & 1 driver). It has plates, utensils, basic kitchenware on site. Hot shower is installed & working. But most importantly it's clean (Unit 333C). We were also allowed late check-out 2PM but were charged Php 350 for every succeeding hour thereon.

Cons: It's like the blast from the past here, think "the Wunderyears" or that "70s show" Universal Studios backdrop. Wallpaper reminds me of the movie "Amityville Horror". And the fact that I'm writing a review 11 pm at night here means I can't sleep cuz of the loud humming sound of the aircons (4 units for each room including living room). Although the unit needs a huge facelift cuz the bathroom fixtures are falling apart & the electric stove & Ref are seriously outdated... you get what you pay for. Pool seems clean but the hole in it makes it uninviting (haha! laughtrip)

Anyways, we wanted a big space for the kids to run around & get messy and proper sleeping areas for everyone. So this fits our budget.

Extra bed costs 500. Plus 250 if you need a comforter (who needs a comforter in the Phils in March!)

Room Tip: Choose either the Deluxe or higher quality rooms for better value of your money.

So we booked a 3-BR Deluxe Villa for the weekend with the kids... HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! The unit was old, smelled old, looked old. The shower did not work, and the fridge didn't work until an electrician tinkered with it for a while. After checking in we left to spend the day in another hotel's pool because their pool was DIRTY - looked more like a swamp than a swimming pool! We got home around 8pm the same day and were all looking forward to getting a good night's rest but ALAS! The water in the toilet overflowed and water spilled all over the unit... into the rooms!

What made this trip really awful was the service we got from the frontdesk and the maintenance staff. They had ZERO sense of urgency even if we told them water was taking over the unit. The maintenance staff were NOT courteous. My sister had to scream and shout before they finally set up another unit for us to transfer to. We even had to beg for them to help us with our bags when we transferred units.

In the new unit where we transferred there was rat poo all over the beds. If we didn't have kids with us we would have packed up and left the place at 10pm that same night.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! We ended up waking up early and packing up right away. This is by far our worst travel experience!!!

Room Tip: Do not book with this hotel!
