“Little bit of Tex Mex in NY”
Reviewed December 8, 2012

I am on vacation from New Mexico where we pride our selves on cooking brisket and beans. My family could not wait to take me out to lunch at Rubbin Butts. My son in law claimed this brisket had that southern flavor I claim to produce. Well, let me tell you, it definitely has, the brisket was so tender that plastic fork cut it, my daughter had the pulled pork which was also so tender that it melted in your mouth. We pigged out with several extra side dishes that made our meal extra delicious. The owner gave us a dose of southern hospitality and extra friendly service. Next visit to NY will include another meal at Rubbin Butts, excellent food with great pricing

“Awesome food and hospitality”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

I stopped in again yesterday (late November) on a long-distance trip. Food was every bit as good as the first visit - in fact, the hush puppies were perfect, as was the huge pile of Carolina pulled pork. The Texas ribs were just like I like them - a generous amount of dry rub and flavorful sauce on tender, meaty ribs with a few chewy bits at the ends, and just the right amount of fat for excellent flavor.

No review is complete without mentioning the down-home service you'll get from the owner behind the counter - take a minute to chat with her once you've enjoyed her cooking - she's as genuine as you're going to find. Compliment her Carolina sauce, though, and she's quick to point out that it's her Daddy's recipe, not hers. Congrats and thanks to Dad for the sauce - and to his daughter for serving up great Southern food with heart.

“California Four”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

If you want some real down-home-southern-bar-b-que that will make your taste buds sing, this is the place to come. Our favorite was the brisket that was out of this world. The Carolina is good too....don't forget to put the slaw on top. The lady that owned the place is great and the portions are enough for two meals. We are from Northern California and are sorry it will be such a long commute for their yummy bar-b-que!

“Great food and friendly southern hospitality”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

The pulled pork is delicious! We recommend both the the Texas Hot, which has a nice kick and the Carolina style, which has a slight tangy taste from hint of mustard and vinegar. Brisket is unique and tasty too! Service is friendly and all about the customer! We took our daughter with friends for Birthday lunch. Menu does not include dessert so we brought our own cake. Restaurant staff kept the cake in fridge and then got it ready once we were finished with our meal. The atmosphere is simple, casual and clean. This place has nothing to hide. You watch your meal prepared behind the counter. Definitely a gem of a find!

“Great food, friendly service!”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

Long story short: great food and friendly service! Definitely a great place for a meal! Descent prices for a pretty good amount of food, I wasn't even able to finish it all, got the texas pulled pork sandwich and salt potatoes (both were extremely delicious)! Outdoor seating available, order to pickup, no long waiting for food to be ready!
