“Perfect Ski Conditions, Less than Perfect Employees.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2014

We arrived here New Years Eve at around 5pm and checked in to the local Holiday Inn in North East, PA (highly recommended hotel, definitely worth the 10 min drive).

The slopes here are perfect for beginners and experts alike, and the winters are great. We came during a big snow-storm and had over a foot of powder at times, so it was great.

The food is average, and on the resort we visited and ate at three restaurants:

The Main Dining Room: Ran about $50 each, and the food was excellent. I had some scallops which were the special for the night and a caesar salad. My girlfriend had some pasta which she said was good and also a chocolate cake for dessert, also was amazing.

The Pizza Place: Love this food. The BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich is great, as is the Pasta.

The Cafeteria: Pricey cafeteria food... chicken fingers, burgers, etc. Too expensive for the quality, and the service could be improved.

Many of the employees here are helpful and nice, however it is clear that the entire company only cares about money, tips, and MONEY. It is annoying at times. The security officer hassling guests at the bottom of the ski lift for their passes, and once I saw the police called to arrest someone who "lost" their ski pass. A little much I think.

However, overall I would give this a 9/10. It was an amazing experience to ski on the biggest slope I have ever been do. Nothing like this in Miami!

Thanks for a great 3 days, Peek and Peak, see you again next season for sure! (Then again, maybe Colorado instead.....)

“Ski getaway for New Year's”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2014

Wonderful restaurants and pub made for a festive New Year's with our kids while they enjoyed the slopes. The Retreat has a great view of the slopes and fun hot toddys to enjoy. Great beer on tap too!

“Managment is non existent”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013

We live near the Peak, so we've never stayed there, but have gone several times for tubing. If you plan on this activity, save your time & money. Go sled riding....it's free!

After about 45 minutes they decided to shut down one "lift". Since they were down about a quarter of the time already, the one remaining lift was a 10-15 minute wait...with half the users walking up the hill! The unmotivated staff stated that they were told to shut one down because too many people were running into the barrier, Instead of warning the occasional (and likely repeat) offenders they decided to close one "lift" and use the two operators to stand at the bottom, and, theoretically stop the people from hitting the barrier. Great plan! I went to the rental counter and asked to speak to a manager. After 20 minutes and three phone calls no one showed...not surprising.

So....If you decide to waste your money, at least you've been warned.

“Sunday Brunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2013

Even though it is pricey, this restaurant fills up the huge dining room on the Sunday Brunch. A very nice meal in a luxury atmosphere, with lots of delicious choices. It's a real treat to come here, and we try to make it our destination at least twice a year.

“It's not just for skiing!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

Played the Upper Course on July 4th. The course was in great condition! They are running a BOGO Mon-Thur until Sept. 2013 If you like a nice relaxing day on the links....the 4th of July is the day to go. The staff there is very pleasant. The only thing negative thing I can say, was the price of the food at the turn. The sandwich (ham and cheese) was very delicious, but with a Greek yogurt it came to $12!
