We love seeing lighthouses and were able to tour this lighthouse as part of the Clayton Island Tours. We were able to tour the light and the keepers house. The guides were interesting and friendly. After years of being closed for touring, this sight just reopened in 2013. Loved it!

We spent a pleasant hour here as a stop over on a boat tour. We were able to climb to the top of the lighthouse and got a beautiful view as a result. There isn't much to the museum or gift shop but the small grounds are beautiful and well kept and there are areas available for a picnic lunch. The clean, modern restrooms were a welcome sight.

Not sure if you can get here on a commercial boat tour but the relatives we visited own their own boat so we took a lovely ride to Rock Island from Alex Bay and really enjoyed our tour of the Lighthouse! Part of the tour is self-guided with lots of interesting placards and pictures of the history of the little island, the lighthouse keeper's home and of the lighthouse itself. You also learn about shipwrecks in the river just off the shores of Rock Island! A tourguide goes up to the top of the Lighthouse with you (54 steps and then a short ladder at the very top) and when you reach the top it's a fantastic view of the area! Don't miss it!!
