We attended a wedding and decided to stay in Clayton rather than endure the overpricing and lousy service we've encountered in Alexandria Bay hotels. We're so glad we did! We stayed in romm 6, which had a large, very comfortable bed, a fridge, coffee maker, flat screen TV, and little seating area. The wood floors were also great--very clean, and no carpets to aggravate allergies. We would definitely stay again. Only concern would be loud guests in the house part of the shared structure.

Room Tip: We chose Room 6 for its spaciousness, but be sure to check out the website for views of the other ro...

we visited clayton and stayed 4 enjoyable days at the wooden boat inn in room #4. room was exceptionally clean and the location is fantastic. about a 3 block walk into town. the common area room was great with the use of the refrigerator and the coffee maker. in addition the king size bed was fantastic. highly recommend this lovely motel.

Room Tip: room no. 4 is a little larger than the other rooms.

Our room (#6) was roomy yet cozy. Everything was clean and comfortable. Owners were fantastic and had great suggestion for dinner at an off season restaurant. This is an affordable get away especially during the off season if your looking for some quiet time.

Room Tip: Room #6...king size bed with super cozy bedding!

We've just returned from a vacation that included a two-night stay at Harts Wooden Boat Inn. We loved everything about this sweet, quiet and convenient place. Our accommodations were so comfortable and felt luxurious with the lovely linens and very comfortable king-sized bed in Rm 6. The room was spotlessly clean. The amenities are all very updated, with a microwave and small refrigerator hidden in the large closet. In an nearby building there was a comfortable screened in porch leading to a full kitchen with a large refrigerator, and there was coffee available there each morning. There is also a lovely sitting area with a large outdoor fireplace and there were really pretty pots of flowers right outside our door. Clayton, NY is a very beautiful and interesting town and we found everything within an easy walking distance or a short drive to the village along the river. The Wooden Boat Museum was fascinating!

Room Tip: Room 6 is apart from the other rooms at this inn, and very quiet.

Our family stayed three days at this charming cottage...a Sears catalog house ...beautifully maintained. The owners( the Harts) take great pride in it and rightly so.They are friendly and kind and made us feel welcome.Everything is clean: bathroom, kitchen ,stove ,fridge everything Beautiful dishes and adequate supply of utensils pots etc. Beds clean and comfortable.Plenty of clean fresh linen. T.V works.Sofa comfortable. Common area outside with benches tables grills stone fireplace. Roasted smores under the stars.Free coffee provided every morning Beautiful view of and short walk to the lake but in a quiet area.Would definately stay there again but longer next time. Enjoyed it very much.A memorable stay. One of N.Y. best kept secret...until now.

Stayed for 5 nights. Facility very clean and neat. Staff is great. Will definitely stay again. It is in a great location in a fantastic town. My wife and I really enjoyed the outdoor common area, it's nice to be able to take advantage of something like that. We also have perfect weather during our stay in Clayton which really helps.

Last week my family and I reunited at the Wooden Boat Inn to participate in the Antique Boat Museum Regatta. It was the perfect location for the event. Walking distance to the docks, shops and local restaurants made life very convenient and being removed from the main streets made for a quiet and relaxing stay. My parents have stayed there in the past under the previous owners and commented on the quality upgrades the new/current owners made to the rooms. My husband and I, brother and sister-in-law knew no different; but were very comfortable and all appreciated the cleanliness of the rooms and grounds as well as the helpfulness and pleasant personalities of the owners and other guests.
We most enjoyed the “common” porch and fire pit area where we dined with family and our new found friends. The kitchenette made it easy to store food/drink; however there was no stove top so we got creative with the microwave and grill. This trip we each stayed in our individual rooms but were able to view the house for future trips –depending on your individual needs both are great options.

Thanks for the memories Wooden Boat Inn!!
