We were quite delighted when we arrived at the ASA Ransom House. The public areas, the rooms and the outside are attractive and inviting The owner provided us with a bowl of fruit and cheese for our room.
We were quickly disappointed when we pulled down our covers after 11 at night and found the sheets stained. It was not clear that the sheets were actually clean. This made for a rather unpleasant night as there wasn't anyone on duty to rectify the situation.
When we saw the owner in the morning he was relatively to our complaint. The woman who seemed to be the manager took care of seeing that the sheets were changed and the new sheets were fine. We received no apology nor refund for our unpleasant night with the remark that - well we did stay that night! Needless to say - we will not return although we are frequently in that area to visit family.
Breakfast ranged from excellent to good and service was ok.
What started as a potentially lovely experience, ended with disappointment and anger on my part.

Everything was perfect. The fireplace, the heated towel bar in the bathroom, the bathrobes in the closet, the comfortable bed. The home was decorated beautifully for the holidays. Breakfast was delicious- an amazing assortment of teas to choose from (I had the Apricot black tea), freshly baked muffins, a glossy danish filled with blueberries and cream cheese. I chose the garden quiche for my entree. Just the right amount of fluffy eggs, cheese, carmelized onions, red peppers, broccoli, and spinach. Delicious! Even the orange juice was perfect- ice cold with juicy bits of pulp.

The room is perfectly clean and cozy- you won't want to leave! You are greeted in your room with bowl of fruit, cheese, and crackers, and bottled water. They have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and restful.

The innkeeper has been running this place for 32 years, and he knows what he's doing. I fell in love with the Asa Ransom House and can't wait to return!

My husband and I visited the Asa Ransom House during our visit to Upstate New York. We had stayed in two B&B's earlier in the week. While we found those to be quite nice, we found the Asa Ransom House to be AMAZING! We were traveling across state, and decided to stay close to the Buffalo area for a few days.
It is surprisingly located in the center of the small town of Clarence, NY...with few attractions to draw one there for a visit other than "passing through". For us, the experience with the Asa Ransom House was reason enough to make it a destination place.
It is such a beautiful and restful place, with just the right amount of "old" to balance the "new".
The staff is friendly and helpful, without being annoying.
We stayed in the Blue Willow Room, and were pleasantly surprised to find a bowl of fresh fruit, cheese, and crackers waiting for us. It was the perfect touch after a long day of traveling.
The room was perfect down to the last detail. Even the TV was concealed in the wall behind a painting in order to keep the room authentic. We enjoyed our balcony and the access we had to the room from the back door. The surrounding lawn, gardens, and pond, offered a very relaxing view from the backyard swing, or porch rockers.
Since the Inn also ofers a full service restaurant, our complimentary breakfast was OUTSTANDING. Several unique choices, with the freshest of ingredients. I left each meal so full, I didn't need to eat lunch!
We have stayed in many B&B's across the country, but this was, by far, our favorite so far. We will definitely stay there again if we find ourselves up in that part of the country.
Just FYI...there is a big, very nice dog (George) on the premises.
I am not a dog fan, but this one just greets you at the door, and doesn't bother the guests. Ordinarily this would have been a problem for me and my husband (he is allergic), but it was very obvious he never visited the guestroom in which we were staying, so it was ok.

Charming bed & breakfast with very reasonable rates during the week.

The room was impeccable and the breakfast was a delight, although I was surprised at the large quantity of food. Definitely plan for a light lunch.

The next time we're in the Buffalo area we will stay here (if they aren't already sold out).

Last month my husband and I enjoyed an overnight stay at Asa Ransom House. We were only in the Buffalo area briefly, but hope to return, as there's so much to see and do in the area. After a walking-tour of downtown Buffalo with its fascinating historic architecture, the drive out of town past the historic Forest Lawn Cemetery and Frank Lloyd Wright's Martin House complex led us to Clarence and the restored historic Asa Ransom House. Clarence has many antiques shopping complexes, but we only had time to shop in one! Our room at the inn was the Blue Willow, which was perfect as blue is my favorite color and Blue Willow is my favorite china pattern. Innkeepers Bob Lenz and his daughter Abby must have known! It turns out the room won a prize for the most beautiful inn room a few years ago, and we can see why. Our canopy bed faced the fireplace, and behind a hinged picture was a television. Even a telephone was available in the bedside drawer. The bathroom was separated into a sink/dressing area from the tub/toilet area, which was very nice for two persons getting ready in the morning. We even had a balcony overlooking the back garden and pond with fountain. The common rooms of the inn were lovely, and the gift shop was the nicest I've been in a country inn. We didn't have dinner at the inn, but we will next time. Breakfast was served in a lovely dining room decorated as nicely as the guestrooms. We could peek into all the unoccupied guest rooms, which was great--we've already chosen the one for our next visit.
