“A relaxing afternoon tea.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2013

My BFF and I traveled a short distance to Cincinnatus today to enjoy a delightful afternoon tea at Alice's Dowry B&B. Mary has her own stamp on her tea's and there are some subtle differences that make this a place to go. The tea was great and so was the atmosphere and food. The price is also very reasonable. My friend came a bit stressed and left completely relaxed. Mary was a wonderful hostess. We will plan to go there again in the future, either for tea or to stay at the B&B.

What a treasure! An unfortunate circumstance brought us to Cincinnatus and we needed a place to stay. Alice's Dowry was much more than expected. Beautiful and charming place. Mary is such a beautiful warm person and her cooking is spectacular. This was serenity at it's finest. Thank you for treating us so well. We will now plan to spend time there. It is definitely worth the trip. Diane and Mike

My wife and I stayed there for our anniversary weekend and accommodations were great. Property was beautiful. Wish we would have known that it goes so far back as we would have explored it some more. We did the Cortland County Geo Tour and got to see some beautiful places. (Make sure to visit Ithaca!) Mary was very thoughtful, kind, and made some great breakfasts. We got to meet her wonderful husband as well. Room and bathroom was very clean. All in all, very good stay.

My husband and I were planning a trip to the Cortland Repertory Theater's production of The 1940's Radio Show, and lucked into finding Alice's Dowery. Although, it was much further than we expected
to get to Preble, where the theater is actually located, it was worth every minute. Mary, the innkeeper
was just lovely, and the B&B is so comfortable. We were on the first floor and actually felt immediatley at home with the common area available to us and so homey. Breakfast was amazing, and Mary,
a pleasure to visit with. The B&B is in the heart of the area, so traveling to the the Finger Lakes or
any other location is easily accessible from there. I highly recommend Alice's for comfort, cleanliness, and peace and quiet. There is a lovely lake to visit or swim in across the street. It is beautifully decorated as well.

Warm reception by Mary, the innkeeper. Accommodations were very comfortable. A good romantic getaway in a quiet, secluded town. This is an outstanding value for the price. Breakfast included many local, fresh ingredients.

My husband and I stayed at Alice's Dowry for two nights. We were in the area looking for old family sites. We stayed in the South Room which was comfortable and roomy. Coming into the home was like stepping back in time. It was beautifully furnished with period furniture and photographs. It was clean and the Innkeeper, Mary, was a delight. She cooked the most yummy breakfasts; stuffed french toast and cheese omelets. Mary was also very helpful with information in the area. Since I was looking for family heritage sites and information, Mary was kind enough to make a call to the local historian whom I was able to meet with. Our stay was a very nice experience and would definately stay there again if in the area.

It was so easy to sleep there. We were on our way to York, PA and arrived late, around 9:30pm. We already announced being late and the door to the main room was left open for us. It was a Thursday night, there was no one else lodging so we had the pleasure of enjoying the common room and he porch all to ourselves. The house is beautiful, the room was more than adequate with a very comfortable bed. We enjoyed the breakfast thouroughly and left early to continue our road trip. All and all, it was very charming throughout and I would recommend to anyone. Oh and there was two guitars that was surprisingly well tuned...enjoyed a few tunes on the porch with a beer and a glass of wine before retiring to sleep...a nice surprise indeed, I think it's my first time at a B&B playing guitar !!!
